Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

7400 brake pad replacement

I know this has probably been asked before (then again, what hasn't) but can anyone point me to some replacement pads for 7400 (7402, 7403?) that will work, other than the original Shimano ones? (getting a little hard to find those)

Any help appreciated!

I would think you should be able to use any brake pad compatible with Dura Ace. I run 105 calipers and had Dura Ace pads for a long while. I just switched them out to Swiss Stop greens yesterday. Worst case, you can get a whole shoe assembly and then you'd be able to swap out your blocks easily.

I did find a flickr photostream with detailed photos of the caliper you have, including the parts diagrams if you're interested.

Just get a new set and then only change the pads themselves. They should fit just fine on your old 7400 calipers.

Dura-Ace 7900

I run 6700 pads on my 6400 calipers now.
