I have a single speed freewheel bike. I want to upgrade the wheels and found a good deal on craigslist. The new wheels say cassette rear. I want a flip flop hub for future fixed plan, but for now just want the new wheels and keep my freewheel gear.

So if I get these new wheels, Which say nothing about flip flop hub, only "cassette" rear, will they take my freewheel, and will they take a cog/lockring in the future?

For starters, "freewheel" and "cassette" are 2 completely different things. Freewheels screw onto the hub as 1 unit. A cassette has loose cogs, or pinned cogs, that slide on, with the last cog screwing on to hold them all in place.

99.9% chance that the wheel you're looking at will only take a standard cassette, probably 8, 9 or 10 speed. The hub spacing is probably 130mm. Don't know what your bike spacing is. Older 10 speeds were 126mm but can be spread a little to jam a 130 mm in. Narrower spacing such as 120mm or less might not be advisable to use a 130mm wheel.

OP, if you have a single speed/fixed gear frame with track ends, its more likely that the spacing on the rear is 120mm which needs a specific track or singlespeed hub. Ergo, the wheel that you are looking c-list might not fit your bike.
