Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Handlebar help

I want to buy new handlebars, the stock bars are not very comfortable. Any websites that will explain, how to select a handlebar? I've been perusing Google and eBay, for example Anatomic and Compact, whats the difference and drop down?

im a big fan of compact or classic round drops; hate the ergo/anatomic bends.

just use google images.

The bars should be as wide as your shoulders.

As for what kind of drop you want, you need to consider why your current bars are uncomfortable. If you have a classic or ergo bend and find the drops too low, compact is prolly the way to go.

Also, consider the possibilities when it comes to rotating your bars and moving the levers. The one about having the bottom of your levers level with your drops should only be regarded as a starting point rather than gospel; I have mine lower with the bars rotated up slightly.

Before anyone accuses me of knowing bugger-all about fit, I usually have a more level seat than that, but this one seems to have an odd shape that only feels right like this.
