Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just swapped to an ergonova bar, the white stripe in the middle isn't exactly aligned in the middle. Good thing my lbs mechanic measured and used the pattern measurement on the back of the bars to center. Anyone else encounter this, is it common?

I've got 3 pair of the Ergonovas and they're all unimpeachably perfect as far as I can tell. I love 'em enough to put them on my steel vintage.
How far off are yours?

what position are your bars and hoods in? hoods at the end of the ramp, flat ramp and flat hoods?

if so.. is the stripe higher than halfway mark when you have the bars rotated to make a flat ramp?

The stripe is just decorative, I always use the graph on the back of my Ergosum bars to make sure I'm centered.

I have Ergonovas set up like this. If I made the very end of the drops absolutely parallel to the ground then the white stripe would probably line up straight. But the bar rotation I have now works great for me (when solo I ride 80-90% of the time in the drops). I don't spend much time looking at the front of the bars...

exactly! if you center it vertically, the stripe will give you a ramp down / hoods up classic bar position.

if you have the ramps and hoods flat, it is normal for the stripe to be above horizontal.

this isn't just 3T. my two FSA bars do this too. the SL-K on my bars is not vertically centered, it's above horizontal. it also has a pink "K" so I don't sweat the small stuff.

I've never looked at it - it's just there for contrast against their stem, with 3T missing from the face plate. I use the lines on the back of the bars to align everything.
