Got passed by a gaggle of Harley riders on Skyline Drive through Shenandoah Nat'l Park... about 5 seconds after they passed me, I passed a huge black bear on the side of the road, just feet from me - which startled the crap out of me since my attention had been on the noise-makers. Moments later I crested the particular climb I was on and started descending... Just past the bottom of the descent on the ramp up the next climb, I saw all the Harley riders parked in a scenic pull-out so I stopped and asked if they had seen the enormous bear. Not one of them had seen it.
Hooray for being out in nature and not seeing any of it. ****ing midlife crisis motorcycle dorks.

While flying down a short hill last summer, mouth open, some unknown bug (about size of a Japanese Beetle) flew staight into back of my throat. As I gagged hard, trying to cough it up, feeling like I was about to lose my breakfast while on the bike, it actually went further down. It was so far down that I conceded, thinking that I might as well wash it all the way down with a swig from my bottle. As soon as the water went down, the bug somehow quickly made its way back up and out I don't know how it was able to get back out after being so far down.

didn't really happen to me, but during yesterdays ride, I happened across a couple boats burning in the marina in Oakville Ontario. The fire trucks arrived a few minutes after I snapped the photo.

While riding along the coastal roads in Hua Hin, Thailand, a snake slithered across the road right in front of me.
Luckily, this time I was able to swerve around the snake without running over it.
Last time, only three weeks ago, I ran over the snake.
Hmm, I hope running into and over snakes is not a monthly thing.
