Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

DA 7900 brifters vs 7800

I recently got a bike with DA 7900. I just don't like the ergonomics of the new brifters compared to the previous model. The gear lever on the 7900 protrudes into where your fingers go when holding the hoods standing up. The hoods have gone from what I thought was a bit skinny in girth to being a bit large (actually preferred the 7700 here). The knob on top of the levers is no where near as good to hold and you can also only downshift 2 gears at a time instead of 3. Anyone else prefer the 7800?

I believe 7900 and 7800 are compatible...so you may wish to sell the 7900 on eBay and get a pair of new or lightly used 7800's.

Next year we will have DA9000 which will no longer be compatible with anything.

I agree, 7800 was good stuff with the exception of the cables all up in the air.
