Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Removing Crank Help

So this is my first BB30 frame with FSA Gossamer Cranks and I want to replace them with some Ultegra Cranks I have with adapters but can't figure out how to get these off. I have the allen socket and it breaks loose fairly easy but while unscrewing it, it hits a point where it becomes quite difficult to turn. I don't know if this is normal or not as I don't want to damage the threads or crank removing them. Does the little piece on the outside with the holes around that looks like maybe a spanner would work need to be removed first?

Any help would be appreciated. I went onto FSA's website and under support and looked for documentation for installation for this crank and it says "There are no items in this area."

Thanks!

The arm is self extracting. Just keep turning and it will come off.

Alright sounds good, just didn't want to strip anything...looks like I need to pull out the breaker bar. Does anyone have any torque specs for the bolt? It's going on a friends bike.

You don't need a breaker bar. It gets harder but not THAT hard. If it is really hard maybe something in seized. Can't say about the torque specs but should be on the arm itself. Most are fairly high like over 40nm or more but definitely find the right spec for your crank.

I recommend putting some lube (chain lube will work great) where the bolt touches the self extractor that there isn't so much friction and the extractor doesn't spin out.
