Strava avg. power calculation?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Strava avg. power calculation?

How do you think Strava calculate avg. power without including wind factor to the equation?

I would not give any credibility to power info on Strava unless it came directly from your power meter.

Those devices can measure wind speed?

Why would they do that? What's the need for a strain gauge to know wind speed? Watts are watts, doesn't matter if you're going into a 15MPH headwind or if you have a friggin' hurricane at your back.

Yes, indeed but Strava should remove this feature from their services because it doesn't make any sense at all.

It's free and they are not demanding you to use it. If you think it doesn't help then unsubscribe.

Its just a very rough guess based on your weight, speed and altitude change. Pay no attention to it.

No, it's there, so it must be examined and pondered and discussed until all possibilities and uncertainties have been exhausted.
