Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can I add power data to strava?

I just picked up a GPS for the new year and uploaded my first ride to Strava, however I still have my wired powertap for power data. Is there any way I can include my power data in there? I use Golden Cheetah for power analysis, but it would be nice to be able to throw my avg watts in so when I'm looking back over past rides I don't have to open something else up and search for the accompanying power data.

so your power data is stored on a different head unit than your gps? in that case I have no idea if you can merge the files somehow before uploading to strava.

I'm not really interested in merging, I just want to take my average power for the ride and put it in that little box on Strava that says average power in the summary tab.

I don't believe you can. I believe Strava can only automatically pull power from ANT+ compatible meters that are tracked by a Garmin.

If all you want is to record the average power for the ride:

-Choose the "Edit Ride" tab (right side)
-Enter the data in the "notes/description" box

Hope that helps

You can probably edit it into the XML in the garmin file before uploading, but that sounds like a PITA.

Sorry to bump my old thread, but I've noticed the average power over segments is pretty close. I did one today that was a half mile little climb and there was only a 6 watt difference between the Strava estimate and my actual power, and yesterday for a 30 minute climb it was only off by 1 watt. The total ride averages tend to be horrible, but the segments are pretty close.

Strava does decently well with climbs but sucks for anything flat/downhill.
