Brand New Shimano 105 or gently used Ultegra 6700?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'd probably go with the Ultegra for the street cred. Not because I think there's much difference in shift quality.

I'd with used Ultegra, unless it's really beat up. I've found that Ultegra typically stays tighter longer and the shifters are significantly better.

I'd go with the new 105 providing it has a real 105 crankset and not some FSA something or other. Not FSA bashing here (I've got both) but the Shimano rings do shift smoother. A couple grams heaver is all you're giving up with 105 and if you break something, stuff is cheap!

Pay the same price and get used components? No.
