Well, it *is*!

I'm biased, of course, and just go to visit now, but I love it. Phone Park is a great place to watch a baseball game: sausage dogs, garlic fries, good beer, and Buster Posey. I'm set.

Yeah, it's great if you're Larry Ellison. If you make less than a million bucks annually, not so much. But I loved it. Hell, I loved all of northern CA.

I'm ~13 miles from this beauty, baby. Someday it will have bike lanes. Also, a surface.

It was supposed to be redone by June but now not until 2014 due to renovation woes.

It's pretty suicide proof in its present condition but two workers have died during the project. Cost of doing bridgeness.

Think they modeled the depicted 2nd grader in this video after someone here.

Nice! That reminds me, I have to check on the progress of the new bridge that's going in down here... a brand new, 9 mile bridge and trail across the Tampa Bay, for bicycles and pedestrians ONLY.

I hope it doesn't turn into the clusterfark that the pedestrian/bicycle level of the Brooklyn bridge has become.

hmm... leaky gut came up when I was researching beeturia. I get it pretty bad, and while beeturia itself is harmless, it can signify other issues. I've had digestive issues on and off my whole life but haven't really pinpointed it to gluten. I just cut most of it out recently because it's filler.

Yeah, I'm wondering how long it'll be before we have punk kids shoving people over the edge and stealing their bikes.

I have actually ridden my bicycle over the Brooklyn Bridge. Both ways.

I have ridden my bicycle over the Gay Street Bridge. Both ways.

Tell us something we didn't know.

LAJ 02-21-13 01:09 PM

We have no bridges of note here. If there is a bridge, it is usually just going over a highway. Though the mighty Colorado, and the anemic Platte originate here, they aren't really much to look at.

Not even remotely possible.

Probably the most frightful bridge I've ridden is this one, at Nickajack Lake (west of Chattanooga). Not much of a guard rail there. One can envision a massive wind gust sweeping through and dumping poor cyclist into the river.

If I would have remembered that the landscape designer was going to take some measurements in the yard today, I wouldn't have subjected her to the sight of me, through the kitchen window, preparing a post-ride meal in my cycling shorts.

Sorry 'bout that.

The GWB is far, far worse than that.

In the Pcad picture it looks like there's at least a three foot guardrail.

I don't know how high it is, but I can tell you that a) my center of gravity is above the rail when on the bike b) it's just a weeee bit higher than your example.

Velo Vol 02-21-13 01:38 PM

GW might have a higher span, but falling off here would be no picnic.

Random note, (since this is what this thread is for) I couldn't stop laughing at the video in the first page of Bob and Tom. Might start reading through the 2k+ posts since I'm bored at work.

A) Wind is probably worse on the GWB given the height.
B) It's a narrower pathway with two-way traffic and 8 (half of them pretty much blind) 90° angles to navigate.

I'm right - stop it.
