I took the seat down, but only about a half inch. I think the bad lighting makes the seat look a lot taller than it actually is in the original photo. The stem definately needs to come up. Not only is it a long reach to the bar, but its super low. I would like to get a straight stem thats a hair shorter, but im gonna have a go at flipping the stem and see if that helps first.

I agree to give it a few rides, make some adjustments. Your glute muscles need a little time to re-strengthen and adjustment may help significantly. That said, I switched to Selle SMP in April 2012 and it is the only saddle I will ever use. Perfect for my stuff. Can get on or off the bike with zero aprehension or thought of comfort. Hope you find what fits you.

Hey Roman, man, long time indeed, remember seeing you back in the day. Good to hear you're back on the bike. The Flite Max can usually be picked up used on eBay for reasonable money and should be a good option for you.

The Romin Evo is completely different. It's the same concept as the SMP and similar to the Aliante you like. I found it much more comfortable than the Aliante.

My number 2 bike ( and winter/rain bike ) has an Aliente on it, I don't hate it but I certainly do not love it. The Brooks Professional I love. Use to have an Ideale decades ago. Brooks was always better for me.

Picked up a take off saddle from the lbs today. Its red and black and looks totally out of place on my
Bike lol. Came off a giant and has it plastered all over the rear end. 100 time

A few more rides might help you decide if the saddle truly is causing you pain and that the source of the pain isn't just getting used to riding again. And from the picture, it looks like your seat if pretty high and the stem is pretty flat, so that may be forcing you over into an uncomfortable position.
Might be worth it to have someone at your LBS fit your bike to you. That might also help to make riding more comfortable.

A lot of LBS fitters will do "free" fits if it looks like you're in the market to buy a saddle. many of them are paid hourly anyway and don't mind the extra time they're devoting to you!
