Oh well. Dr. Bob is fast for a 67 year old, but he does have a propensity for crashing. Sometimes I wonder if his eyes and reflexes might not be so great. I think he'll be ok, but he did get his bell rung pretty hard. I have done that a couple of times.

Here's wishing the best for Dr. Bob.

I agree VV, I saw 6 road cyclists today! All winter long I saw nobody. But I was not on a MUP. 3 1/2hrs. And the Weatherman lied. It WAS windy. I did an out and back route most of which was S/N. The wind (15-20mph) was in my face on the way out. The ride home kicked ass. I did cramp up about 2hrs in when I realized I had only drank 1 1/2 bottles. oops. I forgot what it was like to ride in 70deg temps. With the wind, I didn't realize I was sweating. Oh well.

Nice day on the bike.

I've got a bunch of new bike hand wringing to do. No better place than the 41.

I need (italics) a bike for my other house (first world problems). Dragging my race bike back and forth with a dog, kid with guitars and friends, and groceries just doesn't work. Compounding the issue is my race bike is quite long in the tooth. Heck, I'm still on 7800. Compounding the compounding is that no one has come forth offering me new bikes :/

I could get an exceptional deal on a Giant Ultegra (mechanical) composite that would nicely do duty up there as a bike I'd ride Whiteface with and the once a week I typically ride up there. It could have a compact which would be nice for that. It might not have power data though, which would be a demerit.

I could wait and build a new race bike, though I couldn't really afford something of the quality I have now. I'd have to go with an Advanced (no SL) and an outdated DA group. 7800 or (gasp) 7900 (smh). I could go with Ulterga Ui2 and put my 7800 DA SRM on there.

Not sure how good an idea it would be to swap horses in mid stream though. New race bike with the season under way? Might be better off waiting until the fall and punting.

A good hand wringing session ends in absolute inactivity.

If the Giant fits you, get the Giant, and you decide which is more important to you, the Power data for training or the compact. Although I agree with Humbug, that if you change your cogs, you can get pretty close with a standard.

I'd probably get the compact and forgo the power data, but I'm a poseur.

they're all giants. it's not a matter if giant, but which one, and which flavor.

I got to do intervals on the trainer today because it's still below freezing and we're expecting another few inches of snow tomorrow. Yay.

At least we got a pretty good receiver through free agency.

I would have put duct tape on it. But then they would have amputated next week.

I told him that I'd go to Urgent Care with that, and it appears he thought better of the approach outlined above. It was a small but nasty puncture wound. I would have been worried about the sort of complications Ruokie described above.

Ouch. A reminder why I'm generally happy doing most of my riding solo.

Windy here, too. I have not yet ridden today. Probably do no more than 1.5 hours. Maybe more tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Can you substitute a bench for the couch?

Profoundly incorrect. Giant may indeed manufacture a lot of these bikes for other companies on contract, but Giant's designs (and those of Scott, Cannondale, etc.) are quite proprietary. So a Giant TCR will be different to some degree from a Scott, Cannondale, Specialized, etc.

Still, at the end of the day, once you get over 3 grand, none of it sucks.

Even if you joined a group ride you would get ejected and you'd wind up solo regardless.

gsteinb 03-16-13 12:28 PM

yes. couch is traditional but folks are on there in cars and kitchens and outside. one band blows a couch up in the field. I really look forward to this week. It's an awesome online event.

That wasn't even remotely what I meant. I meant all the bikes I mentioned and was considering.

I liked the "bathroom punk" band. Except for the fact that they were ugly naked guys. But they didn't suck

gsteinb 03-16-13 12:31 PM

I've been on here all day going from the beginning on the 10th. Some snoozer stuff for sure, but some awesome stuff from bands and artists I follow as well.

I could just as easily drop everyone and ride out front.

I think the correct answer is everyone except you, who is evidently dumb as a bag of rocks.
