Yawn... back to other distractions. Geez we're hopeless without Hitchy. How long's he been in the sinbin for?

Rowan 12-14-04 11:14 PM

Hey HobartDave

How'dya go in the Bonnet TT last night. I couldn't make it, because of our Xmas function. P!ssed with rain, hey. Only about 30 turned out, so I hear. Haen't checked the ATTA site to looksee. Any other fixies turn up, or am I still the leader of the fixie pack (coz I'm the only one to have started so far)?

(Beats talking these *flat* Melbourne rides the Vickos/Mexicans keep shoving down our throats...)

Hi Mate,

Got p!ssed on getting to there, but it had cleared up for the TT. I did ***** as you'll see when you check the results (28th out of 36). Pretty strong headwind, and I was cold enough to have arm and leg warmers on.

You're still the "fastest fixie" trophy leader at this stage.

Cheers,
Dave

Koffee's in Illinois, you gotta subtract an hour for her. Only about 11:35 now. She's gotta stay up now to keep an eye on The Aussie Thread.

By the way, good effort on the weight loss -- you too, Thylo.
Was it hard work, or did it fall off once you got your new bike?

How tall, Sacco? I'm 181.5cm

My mate went for a drive around Mt Dandenond and said there were heaps of people riding up there. I see a few going towards Ferntree Gully from the Wheelers Hill Pub when I head to my parents place.
There seems to be heaps of cyclists out that way these days!!
I wouldnt mind trying it but not sure about all the tourists heading up the hills for there day trips.....not sure they are looking out for cyclists.

Is this the famous '1 in 20' all the blokes from that side of town keep yammering about?....so '1 in 20' is 5 % right?...(or do my maths let me down again?....pretty sad for a Finance manager!)......so whats so tough about 5%?.....the back of macedon is 5%....now the front is a 7.5% haul...thats tough (which is why I don't do it!)

No chance of making your bike 20kgs lighter either

There's hope for me yet.......I seem to hover between 71-74 kg lately....I've come down from 80kg a year ago....less gym and more riding/running/squash will do that to you. I can usually lose other guys on the hills but watch them pass me when the road flattens out.

Good god! See what I mean about you Vickos and flat country. Here, we don't go out for a ride unless it's at least 5%, and 7% is only just getting our heart rates into the yellow zone. Why don't you out Eltham way and get some real interval training?

Left to right, it's: me, Wattsy, Hitchy, and SJP (he doesn't post all that much).
Oh yeah, and Thyalcine is taking the photo.

Wattsy didn't get 'round to rounding up the day, so you didn't miss it.

Work has been a friggin killer the last few weeks.....hardly had time to get online...or on my bike :(

If God had mean't me to climb hills he'd never have invented beer!....that said, there's nothing out eltham way of any length at more than 5%. King lake is only 5 %.....so i dunno what you're thinking of out that way. There's more & better climbs where I am around the macedon ranges.....& anyway, climbing hills in tassie is a bit like sleeping with your sister......when ya ain't got nuffin else, whats a man to do!.....I've actually climbed that Mt wellington thing in Hobart....whats the gradient of that?....From memory, it was pretty tough at the bottom & then again right at the top.....maybe I've just blotted out the middle bits from my memory!

Hitchy 12-15-04 05:17 AM

I don't do hills.
ummm Ed, I wasn't aware you were doing 'flats' either!....:D

Sorry. I should have said: After you've done 800km from Canberra over the Alps in four days. Silly of me.

Obviously a long time and many, many beers ago. I hope you suffered.

Rowan 12-15-04 05:25 AM

Which are the moderators?

lotek 12-15-04 08:40 AM

mods have blue stars, red stars are donating members, anyother colours are

That's right....1in 20 = 5%. About the same grade and length as the Poggio at Milan-San Remo (or so I liked to kid myself)....:)
