Is this so! This does explain lot's. SBR boys are a defensive group of misfits.

To quote a very wise man:

Hitchy's an SBR boy, ner ner ner ner ner. Hitchy's an SBR boy, ner ner ner ner ner.

I'd take offence if it wasn't so accurate!!LOL BTW, has anyone on the boards done the Hell Ride? I can't do my regular ride on Sunday and was thinking about tagging on the back of the pack. Any comments?

Did it nearly every week for close to 10 years.....my record was 6 consecutive "wins".

Sorry...clicked submit too soon.....

The back propbably isn't the place to be.
Lots of inexperienced riders + high speed + fatigue = crashes. Sit in about the front 10-20.

Ed's obviously a 'hell ride' gun!...6 wins......cripey...I was all set for the sprint to the tower the week before last, when 1/2 a dozen guys on the front came down.....bits o' carbon bike everywhere!....thankfully not mine. I'm doing it this week again....I agree with Ed...if you've got reasonable fitness, try & stay closer to the front than the back...same theory as in the TDF, usually less trouble at the front...so waddya riding?...or will you be the only guy there with the bike still attcahed to the magtrainer...lol...I'll have my 486, its a blue one, (only one this colour in the country so it stands out)...might catch up with ya outside le knicks @ 7ish?

cheers,

Hitchy

Sounds like I'll have to take up the challenge. Fortunately, I have been working hard on the Mag Trainer through winter so the cardio's good. I'll be riding a black/dark grey Trek 5200 with Blue rimmed Rolf wheels. I will have a Yellow riding jacket...BTW, the names Pete

I find that scary; there's nothing like slamming your brakes on when a car pops out in front of you when there's 100 riders up your ass :D

Ah, a sprinter, hey?

One of those big guys who sits in the bunch for the "hour plus 3", then goes for gold :D

Do we have Framesaver in this country, or shall I just use fish oil?

G'day,

cool...look forward to catching up with you...the 'hell ride' is no big deal, (I'm assuming you haven't done it before?), if you have reasonable fitness & ride 'smart'. The only challenging bits are just after Olivers hill & the surges after traffic lights, (if they stop). Try & ride closer to the front than the back, stay out of the wind when tired, concentrate on what you are doing, rather than looking around & don't overlap wheels!...all simple rules & every week people ignore them & end up 'paying the price', which wouldn't be so bad if they didn't take an 'innocent party' out with them!. Anticipate numbers up to about 200 if the weathers good, don't be late...the hell ride waits for no man!...when the lights in le knicks start flashing...we outta there!.....distance, around 65km, ride time 1.5 hrs....Hitchy's ave HR .....hmmm last time it was just flashing saying 'WARNING ,WILL ROBINSON, WARNING, WARNING!.......anyway, see you there (weather permitting....lol for me too!)...Look KG 486 blue & white, ksyriums.....hanging out with a really ugly bloke on a madone....I'll be wearing...hmm see what the weathers like & what's clean!,

cheers,

Hitchy

I agree with Hitchy....Hell Ride doesn't start unitl you've crested olivers, then you know what kind of day you're having.....whether you suffer like a dog on the back of the front group, or suffer like a dog taking turns in the front group.

yeah, that little 'kick' just after Oliver's is a killer...'specially if you're not having the best day.......but there's always the 'bail out' short cut to get back on!.....(hitchy's patented shortcut, if he times it right they never even notice he was 'gone' :))

Nuthin' like seeing your HR at 185bpm, then have Robert Crowe perch his massive arse on the front and slam the 53x15 up the drag to Mt Eliza.

Struggle Town....
