Sounds like a huge version of the wednesday night group ride I go on. Suposed to be the girl's ride, as in they set the pace. But it usually get's hijacked along the way. Always a bugger out the back.

Not that far off the truth though. We're pretty lucky being able to ride in relatively small amounts of traffic.

Errr, Ed....there nothing worse than a retired racer, or an ex smoker....how many 'hell rides' did you win in a row, again?

You're right, there's nothing worse.

Note to potential detractors: I don't care for lance, and I don't care if you do, and I have no opinion on the livestrong bands.

From this morning's RBR newsletter - kinda humorous:

LiveStrong yellow matches the color of "do not resuscitate" wristbands that some hospitals give to patients who don't want to be saved if their heart stops.

The Associated Press reports that hospitals in the BayCare Health Systems network are removing or taping over patients' LiveStrong bands for fear of a fatal mix-up.

The good news is that no LiveStrong supporters have mistakenly been allowed to die.

Wouldn't that make a great headline: "LA charged with Manslaughter. Livestrong Bands kill 17 in hospital massacre across 5 states"

Yeah. I think he has it in mind. He got all conservative towards stumps, not taking singles.

badsac 12-16-04 04:53 PM

Langer will get his 200. Kasper will be out in the 3rd over today, then McGrath will punish Shoaib with a bevvy of 4's and a six over long off to get his second 50 in so many tests. :D

Or perhaps better - "Entire state of Utah dies because of Livestrong armbands, parties held arround the world. Armstrong charged with genocide, as well as breaches of international environmental law for creating 40 million tonnes of frikken landfill with those stupid little armbands"

Anyone heard that new version of C'mon Aussie yet? Is it crap?

rockmuncher 12-16-04 05:31 PM

Well if you're old and faithful to the crusty old tune then yeah, it's pretty crap. If you're a Shannon Nole fan, it might sound OK.

I ran my numbers through it again and this is what I got -

Fits: The Competitive Fit / The Eddy Fit / The French Fit
Seat tube range c-c : 60.3 - 60.8 / 61.5 - 62.0 / 63.2 - 63.7
Seat tube range c-t : 62.1 - 62.6 / 63.3 - 63.8 / 65.0 - 65.5
Top tube length : 60.0 - 60.4 / 60.0 - 60.4 / 61.2 - 61.6
Stem Length : 12.9 - 13.5 / 11.8 - 12.4 / 12.0 - 12.6
BB-Saddle Position : 84.8 - 86.8 / 84.0 - 86.0 / 82.3 - 84.3
Saddle-Handlebar : 61.2 - 61.8 / 62.0 - 62.6 / 63.7 - 64.3
Saddle Setback : 7.3 - 7.7 / 8.5 - 8.9 / 8.0 - 8.4
Seatpost Type : NON-SETBACK / SETBACK / SETBACK

Inseam 93
Trunk 64.5
Forearm 39
Arm 84
Thigh 64.5
Lower Leg 60
Sternal Notch 155.5

Funny as it sounds, it's not far off what I have. My top tube is 60.5, saddle setback is 80, stem is a 120, BB to saddle is 82 ( but I run 177.5 cranks ).

They must've improved it the last time I used it. As with most things, I reckon you should do as many of these things as possible. I researched for about 4 months before going to get fit up by John Kennedy. His numbers and my numbers were insanely close.
The thing to watch out for with these online fit things, is that they do not take into account flexibility, nor do they account for where you plan on going with your cycling. They're a good start though. My advise is do as many of these things as you can, and see fit as an evolving thing. getting fit up by a pro is well worth it I reckon.

I haven't tried it yet, I hate calculators. Your body usually lets you know what it likes (and doesn't like) pretty quick.

But I'm having some minor trouble getting the setup exactly right using measurements from the old bike as a starting point (that's prolly a mistake in itself, but don't hang me for it!). Different frame geometry means that if I get saddle position 'just right' my reach feels a little awkward (ie. a lot awkard after 4 hours in the saddle!). Or if I use a shorter stem and get everything feeling 'just right' then my knees touch the handle bars when I'm sprinting hard (Doh!). I've just put a new stem on that's 10mm longer, so that should bugger up the reach again

I was gonna use that calculator to see if I've made a fundamental bludner somewhere. What the heck, I'll give it a burl and let you know.

I like that they still have to put a disclaimer at the bottom. You know, just in case we didn't get it.
