Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: 8 bikes - one for each day of the week!

I can only imagine. Has the thread been deleted? Anyone still have the email?

[edit] Tiger's too busy (stuck up? ) to spend all day on here. Maybe he still has the email of everyone's comments?

started a thread complaining about the whole thing, and it was soon all over.
It was DnvrFox, who was against the awards from the start, but joined in to show how ridiculous the negative ones could be. I thought he was OK about it all. There were others who obviously weren't and pharqued it up. And 531, you were the one who posted on that insulting people thread. You can't resile from that in regard to the negative award categories, can you? For example, I haven't seen Merton post in the past couple of days. Maybe he's gone off and topped himself over it all. Who knows? Polls for people become politics. Nice people aren't politicians, or don't stay nice for very long.

Threads have gone. But you can go looksee the *****fight I had with [165]. The funniest bit of that thread is at the end. See the one by Stacey over flogging a dead horse.

531 and I discussed something about the use of the word (unrelated to mr white) on PMs not so long ago. To me it's not something in good taste. We all might use it occasionally, but it's pretty offensive to women, and not suitable for young posters, in my estimation. We get away with a fair amount here, and I push the envelope, too, but certainly that's too far even pour moi. It was pretty crabby last night (friggin' viruses and adware), and he was one in my sights. As was [165] for his stuck-up-his-own-@rse, petty-minded meanness.

Jeez...

Yes...the C-word doesn't need to come out.

Feck off ya seppo imposter! Some of us DO have a life, ya know. ( Read: Partner who insists I should not waste my life on the net and instead do something real, like dig a big hole in the back yard )

Fun fun fun!

Anyway, what thread, what e-mails? What did I miss?

My votes -

1) Hitchy for "Least street-wise, 'I-stop-for-pedestrians' Aussie Thread Memeber of 2004" as well as "Best use of the term 'D¡ckhead' " for 2004.
2) Wattsy for "Most computer illiterate "how-do-I-get-these-pictures-off-this-camera' " Aussie Thread Memeber of 2004 as well as "Most absent"
3) Myself for "Best 'sh¡t-stirring avatar and most subtle use of continuous spam" Aussie Thread Memeber of 2004
4) Expat for "Best impersonation of an Aussie to the point where we almost embrace him as one" Aussie Thread Memeber of 2004"

On the Sue Nami front, I got an e-amil from Oxfam/Intrepid saying that we're still going to Sri Lanka in April, except we will probably be 'Avoiding the coastal regions'.

Right.

Are they joking?

To Thylo, I can only say thank you.
To Ed, I'd like you to know the kids got me that classic Aussie legal thriller for chrissy - the pool room version no less.
To Saccy, HAHA you have a plastic bike.
And finally, to all of youse, for teaching me fine Aussie slang, and how to use it in the forum. I've enriched my vocabulary with words like *****, *****, fark, phark, pharque, fook, feck (new today!), cobber, seppo, and d!ckhead. Thankfully, they were not always directed at me.

In the words of Chopper's dad when he got out of prison "Cheers big ears".

i dare you to post your kms on the "bike miles for 2004" thread.

There were 3 Scapins on last night's group ride. It's funny to see young guys riding steel.

Speaking of steel, just finished building up my new singlespeed. 21.56lbs! Stoked! not bad for a big arse steel mountainbike. ( Oh, that's 9.8kg for all you non Emprical people )

My single speed is supposed to be Kinesis tubing, but the dropouts are stamped Easton. Any ideas how that works out?

Yup. Easton makes tubing as well as a few hardpoints like dropouts, a chainstay yoke etc., and Kinesis has a factory in Oregon I think. Kinesis is a manufacturer, so obviously they just decided to use Easton dropouts in much the same way I use Breezer or Paragon dropouts on my schtuff.

Oh, btw, Aluminium singlespeeds are a sin. Destroy yours immediately. Thank you.

Good. It's much more fun taking a sledgehammer to it when it's fully built up.

Expat, are you going to have a looksee at the fireworks on Sydney Harbour tonight? Are you and the missus going to ride there and back (compulsory bike content)?
