At least it's not winter. No heat would be worse. Spent a fascinating weekend like that in Albany.

Hmm. In Albany, our thermostat was electric. Dead without power, so no heat to the apartment. And, of course, not allowed to use kerosene heater. That was a miserable weekend. I felt worst for my cat.

People in Albany aren't smart enough to use thermostats with batteries? Jezuz.

Apparently, because no power = no heat. With 40-something hours of outage due to... an ice storm. Friday afternoon into Sunday morning. It was under 20* for much of that time. And you guys know how I feel about cold.

And we weren't the only ones without heat as a result; AFD had heating stations for senior citizens, which didn't happen on days colder than that WITH power.

Mt. Doom is under a massive ****storm right now. You know the kind of Tstorm cells that generate tornados. Hard for tornados to get going here, too hilly, it's one ridge after another here locally (we live on the top of one of the larger ones).

About the only time my Notification turns yellow is a bad-boy message from the moderators. Sends a dose of adrenalin through the system every time... even when it's not a mod. I'll have to investigate how to turn off Notifications except for PMs.

Believe it or not, these useless features aren't driven by developers. Typically, some management drone thinks it sounds like a good idea or wants another bullet point so they can have a longer list than the competitor. No salaried developer gets to choose what to add to the software.
