Fascinating; I've been wanting exactly that for a while now.

@Rowan What's up with the Labor Party there? Seems they've been divided and had leadership ballots for the past three years. This one finally passed.

What can you expect from a socialist party supported by the green members of parliament?

The guy who was PM was a meglomaniac and got knifed by a woman and her cronies. She became PM. She thought that being a woman she could get away with lying and subterfuge. For example: There will be no carbon tax under my government, and immediately upon forming a government with an alliance with the greens and several independents, imposed a carbon tax. That was but one of the huge porkies she told.

The electorate was stupid for electing a left-wing party in the first place and enough greens to form a government. This was after a long period of reasonably stable government under the right-wing party (known as the Liberal Party, but it is far from being the small-L liberals as known in the US), that resulted in a healthy surplus.

But Labor, as they have done in the past, aided and abetted by the greens, looked at the pile of gold, and started throwing it around like confetti in the name of "social justice", and now we are faced with a monumentally large deficit. They also failed to realise that other industries existed outside the mining sector and ignored them; now the mining sector is headed south big time, and we're struggling with big job losses everywhere.

The electorate evidently has enough of this rubbish, and opinion polls indicate the Labor presence will be halved, and the Liberals may well achieve an absolute right to govern without alliances in both houses of parliament.

I have to say, the behaviour of our first female PM has set back the cause of corporate and political feminism. The message is out there that it is OK to blatantly lie, backstab and play gender cards time and again... because you are a woman.

It's sad it has come to this, and that the gender debate had to be interposed, but that's down to the former PM herself. Now we can't wait until the next election to tell Labor and the Greens to naff off (the Greens have been a whiny bunch which has almost no depth of policy or character.

I was getting the impression that Rudd did the same thing to her.

I didn't realize mining is so big in Australia. Seems the only export I ever hear about down there is wheat.

Anyway, if you're experiencing job loses it may be that you're just now catching up with the fun that much of the rest of the developed world went through five years ago.

Oh no, Oz has a lot of natural resources being sold to China.

Also, this sucked:

I'm trying to not be a stereotypical can't-go-supra-threshold-tri-guy. It's going well, as you can see. Think it was too soon after the hard 2x20 Monday.

June is always a month of hell for me. It is the end of the fiscal year and I am in charge of our department inventory. We have either the largest or second largest inventory in the state and it is a nightmare. I haven't even been on the bike much. Between work, some pain from my last round of knee injections, and life in general I have been pretty busy. Hopefully life will get back to normal in a few days.

Howdy. Hope you're back in the saddle soon.

Actually, it's more that I just bought those wheels and am about to build a PC and I'm not going to spend the money on something I won't get until the end of the year and might not deliver on its promises.

Or you could be sarcastic. There's always that.

Heal up quick LAJ.

gnome 06-26-13 07:23 PM

I don't think that you can hide your list of bikes. The bagged & tagged things are the latest and greatest next big thing. I don't think you can remove them either.

Herbie53 06-26-13 07:26 PM

yeah.. I just deleted the list of bikes.

n+1 is easier if I do not need to look at it all the time.

After all Australia is bigger than the continental USA (excluding Alaska). while it has a lot of heat, flies, spiders, flies, australians, and flies it also has significant natural resources tucked away in the middle of nowhere. They also have (had?) a reasonably thriving agriculture and viticulture export industry.

I settled for losing count. That way n+1 is even easier. I have no idea what n is. Now the only restraints are space, money and SWMBO.
