Added another species to my raptor collection today, a Broad-winged Hawk. This guy has been hunting in my backyard for about 3 weeks now, eluding me yet giving all the other birds fits when he's around. My camera was close by enough today where I could run and get it and get some good shots. I'm so thrilled. :D

There are at least three hawks with this banded tail pattern and I didn't have any of them in my collection. Finally got one, that makes my day!

Ugh, stuck in the office, having an anxiety day, and can't sneak out for a run.

One of our resident kestrels is sitting on the phone line outside my office window at the moment. :)

Had the privilege to attend a memorial for 10 Military Working Dog handlers today. Six Marines, two Army and two Navy who lost their lives during combat operations. It was a moving tribute to some fine brave men and women who will not be forgotten.

Guardians Of The Night.

Never saw Dexter.

Now, Archer would drink a fifth of someone else's Glenngoolie Blue and have a three way with some stewardesses. Maybe go on a rampage.

What are the others? It looks very similar to the bird that I saw take down a sparrow the other day.

Edit: looked up birds of prey in MN - looks like the one that I saw was likely a broad-winged, too, they're fairly common here. Cool.

Common courtesy. I know that's completely foreign to you, and the rest of your Monster Jam wannabe pals. It's alright. You can all stand around the open hood of one of your monster trucks, scratching your balls, and staring in wonderment at how the serpentine belt just goes round and round.

All my buddies are Marines...Geniuses we're not, nor would we have it any other way. It's a Marine thing, so I'm positive you wouldn't get it. Maybe I'm wrong about you. Did you serve in the armed forces? If so what branch?

I don't think I've ever been to a memorial service for an animal that wasn't an immediate family member.

There's a big one near here this Sunday but I probably won't make it down there.

Obviously, I am far from a genius, but it is what it is. I am not part of the Marine Brotherhood, but any person that has been in that branch, deserves my respect. All who served deserve that respect, but the Marines have a particularly strong bond, and you're right, I won't get it.

Grandfather was a WWI sailor on a diesel powered sub, height restrictions and all. Other was Royal Army WWI and WWII. Uncle was on the Bunker Hill, and was in the water for a few days, 7 of those hours without a life vest. This was after taking on a couple kamikaze hits. Dad was on the Philippine Sea carrier during the Korean war. I was ready to be a SeaBee, but Dad saw the path I took through high school, and told me to hold course, and do what I trained for. Course, this was right at the Vietnam Wars end, and enlistment wasn't high on a lot of folks list.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this.
