Rock n roll is my only solace. Worked out a pretty rocked out version of 'Almost Cut My Hair' which we will be jamming up pretty good @ my July 7 jam. Bring your earplugs yo.

We went to the west side of the state, Pentwater Mi. Near Manistee Mi. ( spelling corrected) Damn lot of fun.good people, good time. Riding conditions were excellent apart for the rain on the last day. No problems with drivers.

EDIT: Manistee Mi. corrected.

If coasting is any guide, the British are so high-nosed that they don't know the first thing about college sports. How many would know who the Alabama QB is?

News flash. Even some Americans wouldnt know, or care, who the Qb for Alabama is. Just so you know.

Yikes. Caused by your cycling habit?

But now it goes to pain level 8-9 instead of 11+ and it calms down in 20-30 minutes after two Advil and ONE Percoset (instead of double that amount of time and medication). Looks 85% healed too, it's definitely improving. Can't ride until it's nearly 100% or I'll just break the skin again and re-injure it (which I did riding on it 4 days last week). Frustrating.

On the other hand, I see no evidence of sub-dermal blood clotting anywhere in that region, so I'm hoping my theory of this being related to my reactions to certain meds turns out to be true. If that's the case I'll be back on the bike and riding for the balance of the year after July 1 or so.

Sorry to hear that.

I didn't know who the QB was, but his girlfriend is pretty attractive and was all over the place a couple months ago. I'm surprised that anyone with an internet connection hasn't seen her.

I had a DVT (deep vein thrombosis, i.e. blood clot in my right leg) that also caused PE (pulmonary embolisms) in both lungs two years ago. Could have killed me, it did not, spent a year on blood thinners (I was back on the bike right away after that). Started getting these wounds about 10 months ago, they take a long time to heal and they are quite painful (they are essentially local blot clots in surface veins on my right ankle that rupture through the skin). But I do think I've put two and two together and this occurs after I take a certain type of over the counter medication that has an amphetamine component to it - in my case sudafed, which is just an antihistamine that I take when I get colds. Can't take that anymore. I think if I avoid that stuff, this never recurs, the last two venous stasis episodes seem to have been right after a taking sudafed for a 3-7 days. Just figured this out a few weeks ago. Like I said, no evidence now of another blood clot behind this one (you can see them forming under the surface of the skin, they look like dark spots) and I hope that is the cause. Easy enough to avoid medications like that now that I know they are problematic for me.

Dude, good research. You are your own and best lab rat. I do this with my feet, whether diet, supplements, medication, stretching, time of day - it all affects my feet. The only drawback to getting a more accurate self-diagnosis is that it typically takes longer. Case in point - I had been having an intestinal issue for about three weeks, always in the afternoons. Before that, I was really gassy - no easy way to put that, and I won't go into detail about decibel, duration and odor, but let's just say they were world class tuba sounding and not at all rank.

I digress. Over 5 years, I have brewed at least one pot of coffee a day in my own pot here at work. I had always thought coffee pots were self-cleaning as they are always hot. Yeah, I am an idiot. Turns out whatever was growing in the reservoir (I did clean the carafe) was getting into my coffee, and hence, my colon. For a terrified day, I thought I had become intolerant to coffee, decaf or otherwise. Tried quitting both, and it was harder than quitting smoking.

Needless to say, after some experimentation, it's all good now. Oh, and a thorough coffee pot cleaning, which will now be a weekly thing.

You'd expect docs to help, and they do sometimes, but I think when we pay attention to our bodies, we can get there sooner to the diagnosis. As for you, just stop catching colds, old man >:-)

I'll watch college football, but not as closely as I do NFL. Didn't McCarron graduate? If so, don't know how the current one is at Bama.

Indubitably your idea of rocked out is dissimilar to the act. Yada yada, surely your equalizer is set up for the optimization of some string plucking nonsense and this will distort in a bad way.

RUOkie, that race looked awesome. It's cool how the whole thing is embraced by that area.

I hope you all had a blast.

I'm thinking about hosting some sort of party with a tent and all next year. Absolute crazyness, but still orderly. The fans self police to protect the riders. The police barely had to do anything other than direct traffic. Saw ONE arrest with all of the nutcases on CryBaby Hill. Absolute great time.

Velo Vol 06-11-13 11:56 AM

If we could get Pcad to craft a tune, and miyata man to pen lyrics, we could have something very special.

Velo Vol 06-11-13 12:05 PM

Hey LAJ,

Do you want me to see if I can find you some old Confederate gear to wear?
