Campagnolo vs Shimano

Is there a comparison? Are Campagnolo shifters, brakes, derailleurs better than Shimano?

Thanks

You forgot to mention SRAM.

But there is no comparison between any of them. That's why nobody even tries.

SSRI 07-30-13 06:25 PM

lets throw in Microshift...

Mavic made components for a bit.

Its like asking who makes the better car. Everyone has their own opinions. None is inherently better than the other.

And if it stopped here...

yes

What everyone's trying to say is:

They're all good, and they're all different.

Just a matter of preference.

What did I tell you? The C people just can't contain themselves. They have an unproveable contention, but just can't stop foisting it on us. Must be an inferiority complex, huh? We all feel the same about our own favorites, but only the big C inspires such BS. Everybody else says they are all the same, it is just what turns you on. But nooooo! Not Italo-poop. I just can't stand it. It's not the goods I don't like, it is the attitude.

Lighten up Francis. I picked Campy randomly, and could have just as easily said Microshift.

And stilltooslow, I only corrupted your quote to be playful.

Compared to even 15 years ago It's all pretty much flawless. I touch lever and bike shifts, even under power. I'm never rattling between gears, grinding on Front D cage, shifting into my spokes, dropping chain, "auto shifting" under power, ect, ect. So I guess it boils down to which flawless is better, splittin hairs. :)

No doubt .... 7 pages ?

OP, people will compare weight, which is the only objective measurement available. And it is a useless objective measure.

All else is subjective.

rpenmanparker 07-30-13 08:35 PM

Okay, I will admit my ignorance. I have been reading posts mentioning Microshift for a long time, but have no idea what it is. So...what is it?

Shifters for very small hands.....

RollCNY 07-30-13 08:36 PM

It is another manufacturer that is fully Shimano compatible, except for the newest brake travel.

Also, they make the Nashbar/Performance house brand shifters and derailleurs along with the stuff Sampson & Sunrace markets. Basically, any brifter you can find that isn't SRAM, Shimano or Campy.

They are available on low end Felts under their own name.

Agreed - no point in comparing.

Simple solution is to have at least one bike with each system. You'll learn to like them all. I do.

I rent bikes pretty frequently when I travel. Invariably they are Shimano equipped. I'm riding a Scott CR1 with Ultegra this week. Every time I ride a Shimano equipped bike, I remind my friends to slap me silly if I ever mull the idea of buying one. It's just my preference, but it's a strong one that doesn't seem to be moving with exposure.
