Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I put a bell on the inside of the right drop bar. Took some experimentation to find the exact right location. I found this configuration doesn't interfere with my hand position, and allows me to ring the bell from both the drops (with my index finger) and the hoods (with my thumb). The ziptie-style clamp it used didn't hold well so I wrapped black hockey tape around it to keep it in place. It's stealthy enough for me so I can still pretend I'm not Fredly.

In case you're wondering, yes I have my bike trainer in the sauna. It came with the house but there is no door and no heater and we wouldn't use it much anyway so it's my bike cave at the moment.

I left the one on that came with the bike. Just slid it over some so my cadence monitor would fit next to it. Black bar tape, black catseye monitor and black bell, so it blends in pretty well

1. Not a backer.
2. 12/11/2013 #837 <--(order no)
3. Black

They are shipping at least 300 a day so depending on your order# and the rate they are shipping, you could probably figure out when you will get yours. HTH

Thanks for the speedy response, lol, this bell has been on my mind. I even dream about riding and ringing it ( don't laugh at me ).

100001268 <- my order #

I find that saying "on your left" to pedestrians usually startles them and it is guessing game as which side they move to. Plus they can't hear you unless you are right behind them. And truth be told I find it insulting having to speak "non 41 type riders"

With a loud enough bell you give them enough to time to turn around see you and choose a side to move to.

OK - maybe they are processing 300 for the silver ones then...lol. Anyway, hope you get yours soon too. The wait was driving me crazy so I'm happy I got the tracking.

I use Mirrycle Incredibells. They come in many different sizes and configurations. They look as good as any bell on the market and they are reasonably priced.

I guess that they are still shipping out orders from last year.

I probably have to wait another 2 weeks

A value bell for a value bike My Schwinn hybrid is mostly for exercise, riding laps around my neighborhood at night, so this rather large bell is fine for rounding those dark corners. The bell was $5.99 at the local Target. I saw a nicer looking bell from Campmor that I'll put on my '82 Fuji once I get done with the rehab. Here's a link : Incredibell Bar-End Bell, 59695 | Accessories | Cycling | GEAR | items from Campmor.

Two questions (1) how do the ship UPS or US mail. (2) I did a Google search for Spurcycle to order one but the only web site that is close is the Kick starter site. How have you been ordering your bell?

I ordered three Spurcycle bells and received them via USPS last week- one for my rodbike, one for my wife's, and one for my mountain bike. It is quite the impressive little bell. Great sound, sturdy, unique design for sure, including the tightening mechanism. Love it!

Where's the lever? Is it built into that oversized flange?
