A buddy of mine rides the Corsa clinchers recreationally in the summer and likes them very much. They are a little delicate, but he loves the road feel.

Pros can get away with using tires that are geared toward speed, whereas most mortals would find them impractical for every day riding and that's in addition to the tubular/clincher issue. If guys that light are flatting due to objects and related issues, just imagine the issues everyone else would have.
