Question about rule #20

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Question about rule #20

It seems to me that if I shift forward, my legs are more bent & quads work more.
Shift back, legs straighter, more hamstrings.

Now I have valve caps and a seat bag, so pretty out of it, but what do you think?

I think you need to pay attention to rule V.

If you shift forward, raise the saddle to maintain leg extension. This is what's done on TT setups. Using a seat bag is defensible, valve caps and stem nuts are not.

*sigh*

Maybe this belongs in training/nutrition.

Stopping to adjust your saddle height during the ride has got to violate rule #something , unless you have one of those new road dropper posts anyway...
