Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'd say blue, in this case. Generally, I like matching saddle and handlebar tape but it's not required. I'm just not a big fan of the matchy match tires. I don't know about trying to hard. It just looks kinda noobish to me.

You could do the fizik dual tape and have black and blue at the same time!

Black would be OK, I don't think blue would look good. White, on the other hand, would look sweet what with the white saddle and frame.

You could also do what I did on one of my bikes:

Does anyone know how bad or rather how quick white Fizik tape turns/stains?

+1 on fizik

if you wear gloves while riding you dont really need to worry about your white tape getting filthy, but it does clean up pretty easy w/ some simple green.

With Fizik tape I do not need to wear gloves, even in 95F+ , tape never gets slippery.

I get grease on my white Fizik tape, & it comes right off with a bit of eco/green chain cleaner.
Simple green does make it look brand new.

Hmm, maybe I will go with white tape to match the saddle.

I use a different brand tape made from the same material and have the same experience. If you stay away from the synthetic cork stuff cleanup isn't an issue.

I still say BLUE (maybe white brake hoods?).

Blue handlebar tape looks too much like painter's tape. I had thought about using blue handlebar tape on a blue bike I had until I went into a bike store that had a similar colored bike with blue bar tape. Thought it was fugly & too much blue. Salesperson agreed. I'd go white or black.

I'd say White to match the Saddle. I always thought they had to match.

The time and effort cyclists put into choosing color schemes and bar tape fascinates me. Of course, I have Celeste blue bar tape to match my Speedplay pedals, to which I've gotten some negative comments/eye rolls. Whatever. I like it.

Nice. lol. Thanks for the complement. It took me at least 30 minutes to do, I wanted them to match as much as possible. I think it came out well, next up a saddle upgrade. ( in white ). First up though, a new set of tires. Getting ready for the spring season, while I ride my trainer until it is warmer.
