Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A carefully applied black Sharpie would make it even nicer. At least on the stem & fork.

Nice bike. All it needs is MANGO tape.

Nice! I like the Enve wheels.

I've got a similar look with the SLC-SL and Zipp 303's. Your non-aero frame and tubulars makes a huge weight difference - mine weighs two lbs more.

I agree. That was the plan originally, at least for the fork. I wish Enve still offered the black decals. The fork and stem decals are too much.

Remember 2ndGen (RIP)? I think his GF painted his 2.0. It looked great. But once I got ready to build the bike, it sounded like a pain in the ass for minor aesthetic value.

Personally, Enve has one of the most artistic stylized name/logos out there, so at my first look, I thought it was overbadged, but subsequent looks just give it more of a patterned look. Also, IMO, someone unfamiliar with Enve might simply think it is a stylized badge, and not a name at all.

What bike shop is this? Do they usually have similar deals? How did you find out about them?

R&A is one of the bigger single location bike shops around - you're in NYC and don't know who they are? Take the train to Barclay's Center and walk a few blocks down 5th Ave in Park Slope. Have some coffee at Gorilla while you're there.

The SLC-SL was awesome. The beginning of it all. I think Whooosh has one as well.

Let's see it.

That's what Specialized does. You can't buy any of their saddles, shoes or bikes online (except to pick up in-store).

Frameset came with a 3T Doric LTD. It was lighter than expected.

But it had to go because stem, post, and bars were coming from the Paketa. And because no one in their right mind has an Enve fork/stem/bars and a 3T post.

Sweet build. Can't get any better. The CSC paint is one of my favorites.

Except on their own online store which is ironic (not bikes or frames though)

Mine too. Regardless of the QC issues, Cervelo paint from 2007-2009 was pretty sweet.

We talked about this in the Diet thread a few years back after I swapped the spindles, bowties, and screws on a pair of SS Speedplay Zeros.

Original SS Zero.

Ti spindles, bowties, and screws.

Where did you find Ti bowties and the spindles without wrench flats? Are they OEM? The aftermarket ones seem to have wrench flats.

I once bought aluminum bowties. They lasted 1 ride before I couldn't clip in or out of them anymore. Ti ones would probably work much nicer.

Anybody want/need a 61cm?

https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/bik/4361512007.html

(No, it's not mine. I'm not pimping my own listing. If the seller is firm on a local cash deal, I can possibly help facilitate.)

I heard the aluminum bowties were junk. The ti bits have held up without problem since the pedals were rebuilt.

Speedplay is unnecessarily dramatic about the aftermarket ti parts. I believe the place I got them from was getting the parts from Germany. Then they got the cease and desist letter from Speedplay. I'll send you a PM.

No issues. I've been riding a Paketa for close to ten years. I've had three. The original Russian import (which was a sweet bike), the ugly compact purple year, and then the bike JP and I put together in 2010. That's the bike I bought instead of a Cervelo.

I love my Paketa. The original plan was to retrofit it for EPS and take it to NAHBS. JP then decided he wanted to build a new bike that was EPS compatible. I didn't want another bike. Mine was as nice as it gets for magnesium.

Your Wilier is relatively new, isn't it? Are you thinking about a tandem?
