Fun...that's what that was.
So I recently traded my mtn bike for a road bike. I haven't ridden a road bike in over 20 years.
I have taken the road bike out with the kids around the neighborhood so I could make adjustments and get it dialed in for me. My son just learned how to ride a bike so I have been focusing on him and his bike while kinda getting into mine.
So yesterday, after we rode around the neighborhood, I decided to go for a 3-4 mile bike ride on the new steed!
Shifted onto the big ring and started pedaling down the street. My legs are not anywhere near the shape they should be in and my lungs need work too. I can feel my heart rate increasing and I am feeling good but know I need to keep exercising and riding.
But as I am riding, I feel this funny thing on my face. I haven't felt it in a while. I stop at a stop light and I realize I am smiling! I forgot how much fun riding a bike can be especially on the road. I was going fast (for me) and enjoying the wind in my face. Sure my body is out of whack and I need to keep riding to get back into shape but the fun came right back.
For me and maybe for others, riding a bike can be therapeutic. I know I sometimes have down days, whether work is bugging me or family issues but I think that I have been missing the ride for too long.
I just wanted to share my short story with others. Thanks for listening (reading) my post.

You're hooked, we got ya, now. Another innocent victim falls to our sinister plot to absorb the entire world into being Roadies.
Welcome to the Roadie world, the smile does stay, regardless of what some say, they are smiling inside the whole time.

Road biking will simultaneously elevate your general aspect (mood) several solid notches in general, while getting you into great aerobic condition and eventually shaving you down to your hidden inner skinny guy. Plus it's just plain fun.
A lot to smile about.
