Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Don't bother. When you get old enough, the hair just falls off your legs.

I did when I was a bike racer. Now I am flabby fred, so the hair help hide the flab.

first time this season. Not sure I like it it's a pain. Also feels awkward when wearing shorts and nowhere near a bike. Perhaps if I got a leg tattoo of something cycle related.

Why would I shave my legs? I hate shaving my face, never mind my legs... It's not going to make me faster.

This post would've been more interesting if Who shaves your legs? Was asked & included choices like SO, BFF, or Sasquatch.

Today I rode 588 miles at an average speed of 37.80 mph...

If I had shaved my legs before the ride I bet I could have averaged 37.81 mph....

And yes, of course I shave my legs. I wear skirts most of the time and it's not socially acceptable to do that with hairy legs.

College roommate's gf didn't shave her legs. It looked like a rug, her legs were shockingly hairy, densely hairy. She wore skirts too.

I was thinking an enthusiastic cross-dresser.

Follow up question would be what size panties and bras you wear.

I've shaved them twice. I also shave my bolas and my torso. TBH I don't mind when they are shaved, however I wouldn't do it myself. I do it only when my fiancee does if for me. I like it actually . Both times she has done it. Now I don't have time for that crap. Specially since I cut myself constantly with the effin razor.

To everyone who thinks it's a hassle. Get this. Also, it cuts it almost razor close, but just long enough to avoid that uncomfortable stage. Also, don't have to be careful because it's near impossible to cut yourself.

I don't think many people shave for speed. I do it because when I wrecked, cleaning my wound was made much more painful because of my coagulated hair.

Haha! Wish it did that from the ears and nose, but sadly, it just gets thicker. What's that for, anyway? Thousands of years ago, were old men kicked out of the cave and had to survive out in the cold, so it became an adaptation? All I can think of. Or....wait, this is it. It was an adaptation to get crazy women to stop paying attention to us, so we could slowly die in peace without all the nagging?

I think Sasquatch would rip the hair off with claws.

BFF...well if your BFF shaves your legs for you, it's a little more than BFF..

SO? I think my wife would get a kick out of waxing my legs and seeing me scream.

(Warning: language in vid clip below NSFW and not advisable for kids.)

You're right, it would've been more interesting.

Not just a post, a poll...Way different. Like tater tots versus home fries. It's like a galaxy, no, a universe of difference. So way different, it's like, a huge amount of differentness. Glad to be of service.

Which shaver is that?

If you can't cut yourself, that might come in handy for some of the fellas in this thread who'd prefer to shave their beans instead of their churros. Wait, that didn't come out sounding like I thought it would.

POLL: How many of you wreck often enough that the minor annoyance of getting hair in your road rash makes the effort of shaving your legs worth it?

OK, full disclosure - I have shaved my legs five times, but most of the time my legs look like Burt Reynolds' chest. When people ask me about why cyclists shave their legs and I use the road rash excuse, the response back to me is always "biking sounds dangerous if you crash that much" or "you bikers must get in a lot of accidents, I would never do what you do you're CrAzY!". Regardless, one thing we can all agree on is that they always call us bikers. But I digress.
