Best Non-GPS Heartrate/cadence computer
im looking for a computer that measures both cadence and heart rate accurately, but i do not need or want to spend more on a gps computer. im a bit wary of all the different computers because many of them have mixed reviews. any suggestions? thanks

I just bought this one recently. It seems to update REALLY slowly...it still shows non-zero speed and cadence values for at least three or four seconds after the bike comes to a stop. Sensors and magnets are all well within specified ranges--maybe a defective unit?

If it's only 3-4 seconds everything is OK. That isn't bad for a small wireless system like that. I have the model that doesn't include the heart and cadence but it does have a 3-4 second delay.

My Bontrager wireless computer is much faster, but at least it's good to know that the delay is to be expected. It doesn't bother me much during riding; just seemed a little odd.

Over the years, I've found that one of the best features of such a device is the ability to upload to computer software. Then you have a record of everything you do on the bike. If you get a multisport wrist watch type device, you can have a record of your gym work, hikes, walks, everything. I find that very valuable, not just in the near future, but over the years. I use a Polar device and upload data to Polar software and also to TrainingPeaks. A TP Premium account gives you access to excellent training tools, a huge upgrade to a mere HRM. The Polar RCX3 is about equivalent to the older unit I've been using. I know, doesn't meet the "cheap" criteria, but if you're actually training it's a good deal.
