Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ok, I'm ready for my abuse. 15 Fuji Altamira, full ultegra, carbon bars and seat post, selle italia flite carbon, and I figured I'd give tokyowheels a shot with their 1 year happiness guarantee and threw their 38mm carbon clinchers on. Bike weighs 16-4 ready to roll. Not a lightweight by any means but it's smooth and works very well for me.

Bahahahaha. Points for creativity. I'm not sold on them either. Love them riding in the drops but in the hoods I'm not comfortable. Probably gonna go to a compact 75mm reach 120mm drop bar next and see how I like them. Everything else feels pretty good on it.

Agree with pdedes, the bars are pretty awful, but otherwise it's hot. Well, I'd debadge those wheels. Unless Tokyo wheels is paying you? That doesn't increase their impressiveness... it kinda screams 'cheap Chinese wheel'. But great potential for hotness!

You haven't been hanging around in this thread long enough if you can't tell what the failures are.

Let's start with the 50mm spacer stack...then don't forget the chain on the wrong rings, the cranks in the wrong position, the bottle in the cage, wheels unaligned. One could even question the position of the quick release levers (at least the front) if they wanted to be picky.

This is the "improved" thread where position of parts has been deemed important. The bike has to be on-point, or else you're going to end up with comments like "multiple failures".

Never said I couldn't tell what the failures are. But the failures that you note may be a bit different than the failures that I note. Some are universal, but either way to simply say 'multiple failures' is at best lazy and at worst, arrogant. But if you take 30 more seconds to comment on the actual failures, you may help someone on here who isn't aware of every little considered failure. Plus, it's far more interesting reading... 'Multiple failures' doesn't really add to the discussion, that's all I was pointing out.

I agree with you guys, I've been looking for another set of bars, I want 42cm, 75 reach and 120 drop but I can't find any locally. I had another set of aluminum bars laying around that are 42/80/130 so I swapped them out today and took the stickers off the wheels, to give round 2 a try hahaha. I didn't want to take the stickers off just because it's a royal PITA but I agree with you, it looks better.

Ok it's done. I'm a sucker for a sale, performance had the Reynolds 46mm clinchers 20% off yesterday and I had a decent amount of points because I haven't been using them for a good while so I snagged a set and moved the tokyowheel carbon wheels to my podium 5. I cannot complain about the Tokyowheel clinchers at all but these Reynolds wheels are NICE. Also found a set of zipp service course bars that were within 5mm of my "ideal" bar (just a guess I had made judging feel of off the 5 other bars I've tried that didn't make the cut) so I took a shot since the bike shop knows me really well and if I hated them I could return them no questions asked and I love them so far. So now this bike is officially done and exactly how I want it for at least 10,000 miles so my wallet should be happier until 2017.

Now I actually look at it myself and think "that's a hot bike".

90% of the aesthetic cues came from reading this harsh yet entertaining thread from beginning to end one night at work.

Love the giant, I'd probably go to black cages/seat/tape because I just love all black (my podium is as black as they get) but great looking bike to me.

The cannondale is just ridiculous, I'd probably put some carbon cages on it just for a touch more bling but still love it.

Like the trek on zipps too.

I bought it new at the end of 2013. It has been a great bike to ride.
