Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I decided to go with black since I believed it would look much better that way, and I still stand by that opinion. As far as the saddle not matching the tape on the handle bars... I seriously did not know that it's some sort of rule. The saddle actually has enough black accents on it that in my eyes it works fine the way it is.
Your bike, your choice. The black tape does work well with the black on the head tube, but I would prefer a predominantly black saddle (though not flat black) to go with it. (BTW, any black accents that the current saddle might have aren't really visible due to the angle of the photo.) I would also try white finishing tape for the handlebar; it might be a bit too much, but I think it's worth a shot. I still like the bike, I'm just describing what I would change if it was mine.

I like the SystemSix myself, and really like the white finishing tape suggestion. That can really pull a look together.

I thought the point of this thread was that we could say what we want about the bikes without fear of hurting peoples' feelings?
then use use the other thread for crying out loud. We have simple rules here that any moron can follow.

can't we all just get along? I suppose the moderator's ability to delete posts is a faint echo of a simulation of everyone being able to get along, but I don't like to use it if I don't have to.

And no, I'm not going to post a picture of my bike, thanks

Okay it seems like people just can't play nice but would rather cuss each other out and call names. Over moderation is accused when we do clean up. Complaints happen if we don't. Granted, most of you are pretty decent here but it takes a few bad apples to ruin it for everyone. I think I'll give the moderators a break and close it for a while. Someone remind me by Saturday and I'll open it again. If other threads are started to replace this one, they will all be closed permanently. Sorry, but this thread just takes too much of the moderator's time when it can be spent actually enjoying the forum.

Siu.

I got a very nice pm from a member asking to open this so here it is. Please refrain from the childish behavior that once was. Would really like to keep this open without having to constantly monitor it. Should it begin to plummet into the negative abyss that it was, then it will then be closed for good.

Thank you.

Please excuse the steerer tube; I'm going on a tour soon and want to raise the handlebars up a bit for that.

Nice bike! Sorry about your small stem .

It could be a hot but it's not... (potential)

PS. Tips to make it VERY hot. 1) longer stem at about 100mm. 2) Cut steerer tube 3) black seatpost. Do that and you get a hot.

Ya, I'm going to cut the steerer once I get back from my tour, but the small stem is gonna have to stay for now because I have shorter arms. I'm still on the fence about changing the seatpost; it came along with the frame when I bought it and it's a nice shiny Thomson. Maybe I'll try to trade it for a black Thomson.

It depends. If someone is going to get hurt and complain, then no.

I'm impressed, I didn't think it was big enough to fit all that in there.
