Can't seem to figure out the damn popping in my right pedal

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can't seem to figure out the damn popping in my right pedal

I have the LOOK 5.1 pedals, and I love them. I have this annoying popping/click in my right pedal and it's driving me up the wall. The pedal is not loose on the crank arm, I checked that. I replaced the cleats last year, because the old cleats did the same thing. I have very little miles on the new ones. I've even got them on a new pair of Sidi shoes. Last year they were on a pair of Shimano shoe's, so it's not a shoe issue. Every pedal stroke, particularly on the up stroke of the right leg there is a pop. No idea what's causing it. Both pedals are set to 6 on the float adjustment. Wondering if any of you have experienced this.

How do you know it's the pedals and not something else? Could it be the crank or BB? Perhaps the shoe?

I think it's something with the float, but I don't know what. If I manage to keep the pedal loaded, meaning keep my foot still and keep pressure on the cleat the whole rotation the sound goes away. Of course thats impossible to do all the time and not practical.

+1 this. First make sure you can isolate the source. Those noises are notoriously difficult to localize while riding, and usually aren't present when you put the bike in a work stand. If you have another set of pedals, swap out your present pedals and see if the noise persists. If it's gone, then you've isolated the source as the pedals. If it's not, then you have more work to do. As Looiggi suggests, crank, BB, and shoes are all possibilities, as are the seat and seatpost, and even the handlebars or stem.

In my experience, a click that seems pedal related often turns out to be a loose rear wheel skewer.

If it is the pedal, it could be the bearings.
