Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help - unidentified noise...

It's annoying the living crap out of me. Sounds like rear wheel and/or drive train combo, but I can't find what it is. Checked rear derailleur and tightened spokes, nipple looks snug. Tire looks clean on all sides.

Unable to reproduce this noise with stationary bike, upside down, it only happens when I ride it. It seems to produce one click per rear wheel rotation, I was watching brand name on the frontal wheel hub to zero in on frequency.

What the hell can it be? The noise is subtle enough to where it is only audible when I ride next to a wall - that's when I hear reflected noise perfectly well...

My B-bike has this issue as well. I've got mine narrowed down to a spoke junction, I think. I've checked all tensions, oiled allt he nipples and junctions and so on and so forth. Still.. click...click...click...click....

Time for a new wheelset? Maybe.. Time to fix the A bike? For sure.

You just made my day. The noise is gone after I lubed spoke junctions on the rear wheel. THANK YOU!

glad I could help. Also glad I don't have to ride my B-bike or listen to it's clicking as the A bike keeps on keeping on!

Enjoy the silence.

I was gonna suggest checking your jersey zipper. For a week i was going nuts hearing a clicking sound and i couldnt find where it was coming from. Then i realized it was the zipper of my jersey( when zipped all the way up) hitting my helmet clip under my chin.

Was also going to suggest it could also be a speed sensor magnet clipping the sensor and only doing it when you are on the bike and slightly flexing the chainstays while pedaling.
