Bikes: A bunch of old bikes and a few new ones
I knocked out a 28 mile ride today on one of my favorite loops. I figure once the cold spell kicks in it may be a while before I do a ride that long again. It will be back to commuting miles and walking the dogs for a while. The dogs like the cold weather; they know they get to go on longer walks,

When I lived in Canada we didn't have polar vortexes ... we had winter. It lasted roughly 6 months every year and included snow, ice, and cold.

So what, it's winter, it's supposed to be unbearably cold. Just find something else to do. Jeebus!
I've never seen such a bunch of fanatics before in my life, act like bicycles are the only worthwhile exercise in the .... Oh wait, is this thing still on?
Um, nevermind. Carry on.

i used to not care about cold, snow, etc... until i wanted to ride year round. now i scoff at it even though in comes every year. take advantage of those days when its 30's+ and sunny. and if not, i hit the treadmill and work on climbing.

Well look at the bright side-- You can sit indoors and debate the pros and cons of electronic shifting, disc brakes, and nitrogen-filled tires for a little longer.

I used to ride in freezing whether in Houston and the Texas Hill Country, but it just wasn't any fun. Riding is something I really like to do, but don't have to do. So I reserve it for decent weather.

Below is the Accuweather.com 'forecast' from a couple of days ago. Polar Vortex - hardly :-)
