Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

3500 Sora will used a common Hollowtech II. Maybe shoot for 4600 or so.

If it's Hollowtech cranks it would be :

Product

If it's an older Sora crankset it may use the same bb you have on your bike now. Maybe post details about the exact crankset you're looking at

Easier said than done on my phone. But it's the most common BB that Shimano has made for 7-8 years. 95% sure that English threaded Hollowtech II is what you need. Any if the following should work: 4500, 4600, 5600, 5700, 6600, 6700, 7800, 7900.

That ain't cheap. Check a few UK sites. Ribble has 5800 for nearly the same price.

+1

While I think it's kind of a waste of money to do this upgrade, you could get new 5800 cranks for that price and they are much sexier looking

Shimano 105 Black 5800 11Spd Chainset, Chainsets, CHAINSETS ROAD

Or for half the price you could get Tiagra which is still better than Sora

Shimano Tiagra Double 4600 10 Speed Chainsets at Ribble Cycles

I would be careful using a 10/11speed crank on a 9speed drivetrain and chain. I ran into issues when using a 5600 crank on a 9 speed setup, there is more clearance on the 5700 series but I'm not sure if 4600 or 5800 has the same clearance

OP, do you have Performance points or something? The Sora will be fine - but shop around.
