Food for thought!
Say you go out for a quick ride. Maybe you meet some friends, maybe you decide mid ride that you want to make a day of riding But you didn't bring food nor do you have much cash with you. What easily available foods do you go for?
I'm looking for fast food, gas station/convenience store kind of variety. Cheap and easily accessible options.

Take your credit card and ID with you next time.
I'd probably get a snickers bar.
I always take a flask of gel and keep an emergency clif bar in the saddlebag, but that's not enough for a full day of riding.

With friends, I'd follow their lead. If they wanted to stop at a cafe, I'd like get a burger or some sort of beef. But left to my own devices, I'll eat a Clif bar or two from a convenience store. If those are unavailable, my go to candy bar is a Payday. A bit less sweet than many candy bars.

Gas stations and convenience stores have bananas. Cost is about a dollar or less. They're the perfect size... they're filling but not too much. About 100 calories. You can throw the packaging in the weeds (and not worry about pollution).
If you need more calories (for a long ride) pie is the best calorie per bite bet at fast food places. Also cheap and easy to handle.

lol. I have $100 in my tool bag.
oh, what would I eat, right. My favorite ride meal is a Subway foot long, wheat, turkey breast, with extra salt and pepper and mustard. Eat 6" when I buy it and the rest thirty miles down the road.

The last gas station charged me TAX for the banana! I caused a scene, but she wouldn't give me my eight cents back. The Nuremberg defense still works today in some people's eyes.
