OK, so now I've become obssessed with Gianni Motta.

Well, not with with him, but with his bikes, in particular the "Personal".

Does anybody here have one?

Thanks,
Rafael T

Requirements are strict beginning this year. Pre-1987 bikes only.

Brakes must have cables exposed (no aero levers), no Sti, no clipless, etc.

Anyone here will be in attendance at L'Eroica in Chianti, Italy?

I'm seriously considering it. I can probably get there using miles.

Of course, I need a bike for it. I passed on the Pinarello. Maybe it was a mistake.

I missed the Spectrum. The Bottechia has Campy, but could not get a good look, it was behind some boxes.

That's beautiful. BTW, I did pop in on Coral Way and they had an awesome ride at a decent price, but at 57cm, a bit too big for me. I'm a 55 / 56

Yeah, I'm still on the fence about that Pinarello.

especially after the comments on the previous threads.

Thanks again!

I've found a bunch of garbage bikes.

I always fix them, then give them away. I've kept the Razor scooters for my kids and their friends, though.

So, besides ePay, Craigslisp, and Garage sales

Where else should I be looking for a nice 70's- early 80's Road bike?

I asked a buddy about it, and he just said ePay, plus patience.

BTW, I just found this bike on ePay:

No, this one is not in Miami, it is in the mid-west, and it definetly not been stolen. This guy has had it since 1999. I know him personally.

No liar, he's a buddy.

He just might believe it is a 'Pinarello', and therefore the higher price. He keeps saying it was a good mid-level race bike from back when, which is what someone sold him on. He bought it used in...

Cool. So, it must be a Veneto from '87

So, is 300 bucks off the mark? Is there a crappy Pinarello, or are they all desireable?

Thanks again!

Maybe it is a Veneto, but it must be older than '87

No S.I.S. on this one, and no hidden brake cables.

Hmmm.

Well, I believe it is a 56, which fits me.

It is pretty inexpensive, less than 300 bucks. But it needs work. How's that gruppo? I've always used 600/ Ultegra in my bikes.

So, it is sort of low end. No pantograph on seat stays either.

Right?

Hmmm. Pass or take?

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I have a specific question. As far as early 80's Pinarellos go, were there various types of frame options, or were prices based mostly on component selection?

I'm only getting now into vintage...

I'm new here. Hello. I'm interested in Vintage lightweights

and would like to know if there is a sub-forum for them.

I like Italian & Belgian bikes, mostly, but also love Bob Jackson. OK, and Batavus.

Cheers,
Rafael T
