if he's a professional, the coating shouldn't be too thick, and the dropouts shouldn't be an issue.

if you wanted to be super safe, you can mask the inside of the dropouts.

not sure if i'd put deep v's on a bike that i'd want lighter, but i have some cxp30's that are a little lighter. i do prefer a more aero wheel tho.
