Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? It weighs about 16 lbs. Stiff? Presumably, but I'm not really experienced enough to say .. it is definitely "communicative", you can feel every grain of sand on the road.

This is a Schwinn Continental from October of 72'. The frame was in the back of the frame pile at the bikeproject. The next stop for it would of been the scrap pile. Alot of the paint on the TT is scraped off, but the frame is perfectly straight with no dents. I got the frame for free, and building it up fixed wheel with parts I have lying around.
:EDIT: Finished pic.

My "Dawes" ebay bike, debadged. What do you think of her?

(Yes, that may or may not be old inner tube as handlebar tape, slathered in Armorall)

Gorgeous bike. What frame is that? Did you powder coat it or did it come that way?

My IRO MarkV

Nothing special, but it's my first fixed gear and I'm loving it.

IRO crank and hub
Mavic CXP 22 rear wheel
Ghetto fab front wheel, soon to be replaced with a matching Mavic
Felt stem
Felt saddle
Nitto B123

Much thanks to Cavern in Toronto for getting me started!

Bikes: bfssfg iro--black.

i like those dawes bikes. a friend of mine just bought a gray dawes, debadged it, got rid of the ugly road brakes and chopped the bars. he's got a pretty nice whip now.

Bikes: Coppi racer, Old school BMX, some random a fixed wheel convertion

O.K finaly got round to taking soem pictures when I was gving her a clean and fitting a mudgard. I only have a rear mudgard as the frount one was snapped when I picked up the doner bike and I am too broke to buy a new set. Not the most beautiful bike in the world but works well for me and has a couple of Brick hacks on her. Running 52 x 18 big, big. Rear wheel built around an onone hub with an open sport rim.

It has a home made chain tug on it. No photo of the compleated acticle but here is one post drilling and tapping pre welding and painting.

Hack number two come from the fact that I ride clippless on my road bike but can't always be bothered to change the pedels over so I bought a pair of toe clips off of ebay. They had no size but I thought must be med but turned out to be a small. Hence a Brick hack. Legths of copper water pipe. Better than a stack of washers but still not perfect. I have since bought a another set of clipless but am waiting till the January sales to buy some shoes cheap with any luck.

Last thing is the crazy bolt on water bottle cage that I took off of the donner bike. Not great but I works and has reto style.
