I have a cross-check and it's great for light touring, but I couldn't load it up like i could a LHT.

The Sojourn is a nice bike but very heavy and still pricey.
A Surly Cross-Check or Long Haul Trucker is my recommendation.

Look for a steel frame with a longer wheelbase, your body will thank you.
