On a separate note, today I rode my Wabi Lightning for the first time after flipping the stem to raise the bar position and had a much more enjoyable ride.

Nice Wabi [MENTION=168526]TejanoTrackie[/MENTION]. I love Wabi's. Why did you go with the Lightning over the other two models? I'm just curious. I'm trying to decide between the Classic and Special.

That's the old Scandium frame model with a carbon fiber fork that they no longer sell, not the new steel frame model. It's incredibly lightweight at only 15.0 lbs as shown, minus the toolbag and water bottle. Despite being made of an aluminum alloy rather than steel, it rides like a dream with none of the harshness normally associated with aluminum. Mine is the 650c wheel version, and was only available for about a year before they became extinct.

Not quite. Four of those are single speeds, and I've got two more fixed gears (aka fixies) that are not shown.

Aside from the celest seat ....... I really like that Bianchi.

That's the original saddle and it's pretty beat up. The nose is taped to cover a rip in the cover and it's loose on the rails. The Bianchi has been my track racing rig for the past seven years and it's had a hard life.

I understand wear and tear, these things should be used. I was referring to the color.

Those Wabi Specials are fantastic. Wish I could grow about 4 inches so that the smallest size would fit me.

I haven't posted on this site in a while, but I've had my 40th b/day since the last time I have. Still love riding fixed.

Welcome back ! Let's see some pics.

Some more small but significant changes to the Dolan Pre Cursa, to wit:

1) Swapped the Charge Spoon saddle with the Charge Knife saddle on the Leader. Works better when riding with padded lycra bibs and on the drops.
2) Removed the SPD pedals and installed my old Shimano Dura Ace Look pedals. The SPDs don't have the secure and planted feel of the road pedals and I don't have any SPD shoes with stiff soles. I'm taking this bike on longer non-stop country road rides, and don't need the walkability of the SPD shoes.
3) Repackaged my seat bag with spare tubie and mini pump so it's taller and narrower to keep my thighs from rubbing against it when I'm riding.

New to the forum, got your orange brother here. 47 years old, this is the first single speed I've had since I was a kid.

It's a really beat up old thing with a bent down tube (great position for powering up hills) we got locally. I guess it's at least twenty years old but it was ideal for Bel's first SS. It took ages to get the riding position just right but I think we have it now as she's averaging 16+ mph on 15-20 mile trips.

I realised today that I really did not like riding with gears: far too much to think about and, very bizarrely, my times are better on the fg by at least 10%. I've put this down to more efficient gear train and a better psychological approach. YOU JUST PEDAL. Period.

I've got a Dawes Civic here which I'm hoping will fit my daughter. She's 12 so we'll be doing the 'too big but she'll grow into it' routine ... maybe. Lovely old bike. Reynolds 500 frame. All alloy bits. Got an early free hub on the back, one of those where the last cog is the locking ring. What's best is the lass herself wants to help with the rebuilding and fixing up, my son's only just got interested in that and he's 21.

I'll be 48 pretty soon... still spinning.

My Peugeot AO8 was a coaster equipped beater until I built new wheels this spring and now it is a fixed gear beater... it is a great bike with those 27 inch Panaracers under her.

An update for me.

I'm 57, been riding fixed for ... 8 years, most of those on my Europa (as she is in my avatar) then later on my Hillbrick ... with a few scrubbers thrown in between.

Just fitted an S3X to my Hillbrick and it's transformed the bike ... well, in my area which is pretty lumpy.
And here she is:
