Yes, those are good bibs. I have used love2pedal before and found their customer service way above the bar. Give them a try, they won't disappoint.

There is a coupon code like "clydes" or somthing that gives you $5 off. If you do a search on here you should be able to find it. Or someone will chime in and correct me if I am wrong.

Love to pedal is a great site. The bibs run a little small though. I'm ususally about a 1-2xl, and the 3xl fit me great.
They have GREAT customer service. 30 day returns if it is the wrong size. You will be happy with the product, and with Love2pedal.

The code is CLYD for $5 off. The stuff is great, the prices are great, the company is great and the sizing charts are actually correct.

Last year, in the first flush of excitement for cycling, I felt I had to have a pair of the Specialized Roubaix bibs at $160. I then complained for months at what a waste of $ they were as they felt no different ot my $40 pair. Full-forward a year and I love the things. Ive come to appreciate the excellent fit, lightweight, wash-well and usability of the bibs.
I must admit, I would probably drop the $160 again when these wear out. I wear them 3x a week so it wont be long (read 3x washes too!)

Are these decent for a first pair of bibs?
Bibs
I want to get a pair but I dont have a bunch of money to throw into it. Would these work for a while?
Also, anyone used love2pedal.com for their gear?

As the others have mentioned they are excellent to deal with.

I bought a few pairs for myself and my daughter. Good quality for the money, quick shipping and great return policy.

I don't have the regular falconi's but do have a pair of the deluxe ones. I have other pairs that fit be better and I wear more often, but they are definitely fine, especially for a first pair to see if you like them.

I have a couple pair of Performance Brand "Scattante" Forza bibs. I find them to be comfortable, but...
My first pair, after about 8 months of hard use (wear them ~2 days per week, washing and drying them after every use), some of the padding layers within chamois started to come unglued and fold over itself - creating odd bulges above the rear of my saddle.
They weren't uncomfortable that way, but it was annoying. So I carefully removed 1/2" of stitching on the chamois, and removed the offending layers - two of them - one a gel layer and another a thinner foam layer.
Frankly, they're just as comfortable or MORE comfortable without them. These layers made the rear of the chamois too thick, IMO.
I've decided that I'm not going to hang dry my cycling clothes from now on.
And I won't buy a third pair of the same bibs.

Avoid Nashbar bibs/shorts. I don't typically bag on products, but I've had a pair each, of NB shorts and bibs and BOTH have fallen apart way too soon. I realize you get what you pay for but this was ridiculous.
I have two pair of Falconis ... nice for what they are, so I'd definitely recommend them to beginning riders and those of us on a budget.

I have a pair of the Nashbar bibs and, compared to the Specialized bibs, they feel like Im wearing an adult diaper...

one pair of nashbar shorts I had have the diaper feel you mentioned. The other pair, the chamois has hard plastic sticking out of it. I do have two pairs of their mansfield padded bibtights that I wear in the winter and rather like.
Didn't have that problem with the falconi deluxe bibs though.

Member Jethro56 requested I clarify the difference between our two types of bibshorts we offer (basic and deluxe).
The deluxe bibshorts use flatlock stitching which lays flatter on the skin than the regular stitching on the basic bibs Also you can get the flatlock stitching in several accent colors.
The deluxe bibshorts also use a nicer quality lycra/mesh upper.
Both models use the same Coolmax seatpad and both use a similar quality lycra for the shorts portion.
The basic bibshorts are about 1/2" longer in the leg. That doesn't make much difference unless you have short legs and don't want the bibs getting close to the knee. For most people, either length works fine.
The basic bibshorts also come up a little bit higher on the stomach than the deluxe ones. This makes it a little bit tougher to pull down the front to take a leak (but not THAT difficult). The upside is that the basic bibs are a little more effective in holding in your stomach (girdle effect).
Both use the same coolmax seat pad. It is considered a medium thickness pad and our feedback from customers has been very good on this overall.
Both models seem to both be very durable, even though the Basic is a few dollars cheaper than the Deluxe
The 4X model that the OP (original poster) put in his listing (4X Basic Bibshorts) run big (even for a 4X). This is mentioned in the listing. It would be more suitable for a guy who needs larger than our typical 4X. It runs particularly large in the leg diameter. If you have a big gut but relatively thin legs, this model would probably not be as good for you as our Deluxe Bibshorts 4X that has a slimmer leg.
The coupon code mentioned for the $5 discount is CLYD and only works at our website (not on eBay or Amazon).
Also, Jethro56 enquired about winter gear. We have some longsleeve jerseys and that is it. The problem is that the minimum quantities we have to order is too high for us to bring in tights, etc.
