Found a *dead* Schwinn Crossfit on the road today, bent RD hanger, fork dropout, and stuck seatpost. Hey, at least it was free!






I'm thinking of running a parts bin collection on it. Mismatched crankarms either single speed or single chainring with RD running 6ish gears. I've gotten all the crap off of it and given it a bath. Probably won't be using the front wheel as the spokes are all rusty. 700c wheels aren't really something I find all the time or have laying around so it might be a slow moving project. I'd really like some porteur or flared drops.

Free is always good! Potential is there, just be careful straightening out the dropout hanger.

I do have a claw RD if the hole gets elongated, and thanks! I really like the neutral colors. It's a mess of a bike but I don't plan on spending a dime on any of it so it's totally fine. The BB is cartridge and spins like new, kinda cool. I might consider leaving the triple crank and running tringle speed - no FD just a RD and a single cog in the rear.

You can easy fix that hanger with an adjustable wrench and a good eye. Nice snag and a good project!

Did it already, adjustable wrench did it perfectly! The fork dropout is a bit tougher since the fork spins. Need another set of hands to help. I'm thinking a donor bike might be the perfect thing. Something huge or tiny that nobody wants.

Be careful, there appear to be two feet attached to that wheel! I would leave it alone, and get as far away as possible from it! :-)

If you do keep it, it definitely still has a lot of life in it! If you're looking for a donor bike, the garage sales are a great place to look.
