Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another round of dismal science forecasting will commence later this month.

I know that bike stuff is a little out of place here, but I find myself coveting this -

Coveting is a sure sign that I need to be riding more.

a guy in my club ride is riding one of these, and it certainly looks SWEET! how much does it weight, not sure where i read that TIME frames are heavy when you factor in how much they cost!?

Achilles tendon area is killing me today and it was really painful during yesterday's ride. Looks like I'm going to have to take today off.

Hate to say this, but weight isn't everything when it comes to frames. My Colnago is heavier than a lot of frames that I have owned but as of now it is the best frameset I have ever owned.

They're not pigs, but they're not ultralights - the "module +" that I posted above is 1930 grams, including the frame (with integrated seat post), fork, stem, and bars. Time feels that they can sacrifice some weight if it means that they get the ride quality and aero profile that they're looking for. Price? Yeah, not cheap. Their frames start at $3.5k, the RXRS Black Label is in the $5k neighborhood. The cost is explained by the fact that they, unlike just about everyone else, weave their own carbon - instead of laying-up little sheets of carbon in a mold, they weave specific continuous tubes of carbon for each part of the frame. Depending on the application, they'll weave in stuff like Vectran to tailor the ride quality.

I'll likely covet from afar, occasionally smudging my nose on R&A's window, sneaking glances at the Times within. If I can catch a deal next winter, though...

I haven't ridden since Thursday. The swelling is finally gone. I think today I'll try it out on the rollers.

Thanks, me too. I have just a slight bump on the inside of the tendon. It makes me worry I may have partially torn it. I hope that's not the case. The soreness almost completely gone. Been wearing my Oakley 8" high combat boots for the last week. The extra support seems to help. It doesn't hurt when I touch it now, so that's a good sign.
