for those with ferals, have you found a breakaway collar that lasts longer than 12 hours? I put two on Buttons recently and he returns in the morning without it. I'm wanting to make sure the neighbors know he's cared for and not have him trapped and put in a rescue place. The collars I ordered had his name and my phone number. Apparently, they breakaway too easy (maybe he's just not meant to have a collar).

Also, we are going away for a week in June. Any suggestions for a reliable automatic feeder? It breaks my heart to leave him for a week, and hopefully I'll get the neighbors to feed him wet food twice a day, but I'd also like a dry food dispenser.

I could perhaps. The difficulty being scheduling a vet appointment. He's not on a regular visiting schedule with us. I will keep that in mind.

I have the PetSafe Simply Feed, very reliable with both battery and AC adapter. I think they make a couple of different models. Not the cheapest option but worth it IMO.

Ask your vet if they know anyone who can make housecalls to feed your cat. One of the techs at my vet has a side business doing stuff like that. I had a cat who needed daily IVs and I wasn't comfortable doing it myself, so I hired her and it worked out well (aside from the cat dying, but that was inevitable).

Pumpkin is getting older (now 12) and likes to nap on the back of the couch. Then I woke him up.
Nice knowing y’all.

oh no. The review on Amazon reads that a box of tissues are required at the end. Not sure I can handle that, but I'm always looking for a good book.

Thanks for the heads up. I can't take those endings either. I've sensed this is the type of ending coming. But this past summer we lost our cat of 19 years. And recently got a new kitten.

It is painful when they go. I swore I'd never get another cat after my Fifi died in 2010, but then this darn feral had to come along. ugh.

I don’t understand my cat!

Checked on Max in his other bedroom expecting to see him lying on the big comfy comforter…nope! He’s on the other bed sacked out on this frame! The handlebars aren’t really bent like that, it was a long exposure and things get weird…

I’ve been framed!

be Max a main triangle sort of fellow or does he sometimes partake of the rear triangle as well?

The Kas saga continues. In communication with her former owners, turns out she was a much more affectionate cat with them, who loved to cuddle with Mom and Dad on the couch, etc….. We did not know this or expect this behavior to develop, but seems the passage of 7 mos. living with us, she has figured our we are her new family and is now exhibiting this behavior with us. She seeks me out to cuddle pretty much every day now. Sometimes will venture to the 2nd floor bedrooms and visit. She has been chased out by the 2 males, each of whom “owns” a bedroom, we are hoping she figures out the master bedroom has room for a 2nd cat and that she will make this her sleeping spot. I can only imagine what a heartbreak to have to leave behind a cat who has lived with you for 10 years. I could not do that.
