Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have a leg length difference as well due to pelvic tilt. I think its 8mm so I bought a 5 mm wedge and made a 3mm additional shim by using 3 slices of a bottle of laundry detergent. Apparently they are 1mm thick. I saw it youtu.be.

I tried the sticky shims that go under the cleat but I could never get them to stay put. I've used washers under the corner of the right cleat and that has worked. I also have made shims from cardboard and taped them to the footbed under the ball of the right foot.

Thanks. The cleats that I had before were yellow, but I didn’t know there was any significance to the color. Should have asked here first I reckon. Checked the tension and it appears the pedals are all the way loose. The pedals are old so at first I had to tighten them to get them to start clicking. Going to ride with Lily in a little bit I’ll see if it made a difference. Adjusted the clear position too.

Not everyone has the problem but it has affected every model above 4. I haven’t heard of 2s or 3a having a problem but there may be some of those, too. What’s sad is Apple seems to be ignoring the problem like Garmin tends to do.

You can also get Shimano pedals that are easier to unclip. My wife has the Light Action pedals which are the Tiagra line. My 105s are a bit more stiff. Other than materials (for weight) and spring tension, they are the same pedals.

One fun annoying thing from my ground pound yesterday. My cycling computer now rattles in its mount. It’s not loose to the point of falling out but it’s loose enough that I may have to start avoiding some roads. Luckily for y’all I did some experiments to figure out what the noise was before starting a help me thread.

Poor picture but this shows the 5 mm shim with the three 1mm shims made from a laundry detergent bottle.

what the heck, it's a slow night.

So I came home from work, relaxed for a bit. Then geared up for a zwift ride. I had a Reynolds wheel with a kinetic trainer tire on the bike, cuz....carbon. I pumped the tire, got on and started to spin it up to speed. Pow! Blew a hole in the side wall. That was a frigging brand new trainer tire. 3 rd ride on it. So I pull up ebay to replace it. I beg you pardon... I didn't realize trainer tires are made of gold.. $60.00? $80.00? Wtf?

Also, I recieved a reply from wahoo about the firmware update fiasco. They were very helpful in telling me what I could fo to try and fix the issue. None of which addresses thier garbage firmware fix. Oh well I tried.

Good work. Try putting some plastic wrap on the mount before you seat the computer into it to tighten things up. Or you can get a k edge pretty reasonable on ebay.

Has anyone else noticed that this website doesn't work correctly, or am I the only one?

Like when you click on the "go to last post" thing on the main page, it first starts loading something two or three pages from the end, and then it will go to the last page.

This website is owned by a company, right? It's not Joe with a server in his basement, debugging as he has time on the weekends.

So... how's your Apple watch doing if I may ask.
I charge mine every morning, and take it off just before I jump in the shower. I track sleep, weights and the bike, and it charges up during that time. No issues so far, but it is a 5.

We had freezing frost fog all last night and this morning on top of the existing snow.

Made for some neat pictures.

did a short ride with the wife. I didn’t realize how tired from work she was and kind of pushed her to go. It was the coldest ride yet for her and I didn’t know it but the face warmer was fogging her glasses. Needless to say it didn’t last long.

Talked to her afterwards, discovered the glasses fogging thing, and she was having trouble breathing. I forgot how hard it was for me to breath through the mask last year when I first got one, and the cold air burning the lungs.

Tomorrow I am taking her to the cap trail (mup) so I am hoping in the sunlight things will be a little better.

Cleat position is good now, but when it comes unclipping I think it’s just gunna come down to suck it up butter cup. It’s not insanely hard to get my foot out, it’s just a new feeling compared to my worn out cleats and I can’t seem to anticipate the force required. I am sure it will get better with time.
