New helmet handwringing is done, Giro Cinder MIPS ordered.
When it arrives, I'll ask if I made the right choice, and got a good deal.

Ah. Spiced run kinda soured me on rum until my mid-30s, at which point my Jamaican neighbor introduced me to aged rum, which is mighty fine for some straight imbibing (but not enough that I'd seek out a bottle for myself).

Need a bit of help.
I was installing my crabon handlebars and am running into some problems. The bars are 31.8 and I have two stems that are both 31.8 but Neither of the stem faceplates are flush with the handlebar surface. I didn’t expect them to be perfectly flush because of the roughened contact surfaces on the bar, but the gaps I see seem a bit much to me.
Am I justified in being ascared, or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?

It’s the radial size that counts. If the plates touched, they wouldn’t be able to tighten. Just be sure to tighten slowly and evenly.

For the life of me, I can not find the little shift wire end caps, because why would I?

A good rum & tonic—a medium gold rum and high quality tonic with a squoosh of lime—is a very nice thing on a hot evening.

Agree it looks like the size is not quite right. Tough to say on the tightened pics though.

I think I’ll just put the old handlebar back and rewrap. Then perhaps I can get a stem that has better manufacturing tolerances. I just wish I didn’t unwrap and removed everything from it before checking the fit of the new bar to the stem

Yes, the radial surfaces need to match without a doubt.

Aluminum doesn't like to do that. If you tried I'm pretty sure that it would just crack. Plus, if you bent it then the thru holes for the mounting screws won't match the threaded parts on the stem anymore.

I’m scouring the interwebs for a fizik stem to replace the stem the bike came with. The shop I stopped by didn’t have the fizik stem in my size (which seemed to match the bar diameter much better), so online order seems to be the best bet.
