Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It had extra **** on it I did not want but had to accept anyway. The skid plate was no big deal, I just left it in place. But the roof basket I removed because it’s an eyesore and I’ll never use it. The blacked out wheels definitely had to go, and I even had to pay extra to have them swapped out. I kind of felt like I had been molested by the inmate in the cell next to me by the time I drove away with my new ride. But I felt lucky that my monthly nut was basically the same as my previous vehicle.
This is why we put off the Mini purchase.

Lots of variables. A low priced car may only have a few hundred in it for the dealer. Cars costing $100K will likely net the dealer $1000s.
There are "factory to dealer incentives" where the dealer can make a profit while selling the car for less than invoice. Invoice prices are not set in stone, either. Factory employees and some dealership employees can pay less than invoice.

A dealer may be willing to sell a vehicle at cost or even below if it's been sitting long enough. Or a dealer may add $1000s to the price if the vehicle is in high demand.

It's all driven by market supply and demand. Seems we are past the days you describe.

Depends on the market. If there are a lot of cars sitting on the dealer's lot, then it could be the holdback and the manufacturer money that you will never know about. If it is as BillyD described for his 4Runner, then it is what you are willing to pay for it.

I bought the Bronco for MSRP when they were all going for $5-10k over MSRP. We bought the Audi when there were a lot of cars on the lot and the dealers were doing everything they could to move the cars. They sold the car for less than they paid for it and even went into their holdback, but I'm sure that there was some Audi money being made on the sale. There are often manufacturer incentives to the dealers that you will not even know about.

One of our ride routes takes us past a bunch of new car dealers. It was weird seeing those lots nearly empty for a long time. I went to my old dealer to visit the guys and they told me they had 44 new cars in stock. When they were really moving cars they had as many as 600 in stock, stored all over town.

Does this mean that you could regularly push your ride start close to 9 am? If this means that you could get more sleep (even if that means sacrificing some ride time), that could be huge for your performance and fatigue.

LOL.

Guy how owns the business I work at got a security clearance a couple years ago to see/submit bids for work at the national laboratory. Someone came by and asked me questions about him.

He's spent many hours on that time sinkhole and has never earned any money off it.

Yep. It's all relative. This time of year, 50 is a dream, 40 is more than tolerable here.

Yesterday was perfect - high of about 74F, very little wind, and sunny. Today is supposed to be the same.

I'm stuck in the office. But, have no fear, Friday and Saturday (when I am off) are supposed to be wet and windy

Over by Yuma it's plenty warm, but head east and it's a whole different story, over there where the southernmost ski destination in the US resides.

My friend from Tahoe was here yesterday and she said there has been very little snow this year and skiing has been crappy. This coming storm may help that area.
