How something like that could stay on Craigslist long enough to even be posted about here is nuts

Then again the guy probably posted the ad, didn't think about it, then comes back a few days later to a totally blown-up inbox, with people 10th in line swearing they'll pay $300 for it

While no doubt this bike will go relatively quickly, the market around here is not quite as good as some places, like Oregon.

*chuckles*, think any of this is true?

https://corvallis.craigslist.org/bik/1924695574.html

This is the coolest bike in town and it's up for sale! Classic Peugeot frame with shimano accessories. Dark Maroon with Orange Accent. Made in France. Fast and Quiet. Rides exquisitely smooth. Equipped with front and rear reflectors, fenders, kick stand, extra handle bar brakes, Cork handlebar wrap, cargo rack, bottle holder, bontrager seat. 12 speed. Great for all seasons, touring and in town riding. I have had this bike for a great long while but it is time to part. Size recommendation is for male height 5'7 to 5'11. I am 6 feet, rode it for years, but I think it is finally a tad too small for me. Thanks!

This looks like a good price for a Panasonic keeper. I'm pretty sure I know the seller and could probably get a few bucks shaved off.

Panasonic Road Bike - $200 (South Philly)

Reply to: sale-r6vtn-1924460907@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Really nice Panasonic 12 speed road bike with a quite nice "Custom by Panasonic" 2 tone paint job.

Nice Tange Cro-Mo frame. steel is real. trust me.

Brand new Tektro Brakes and Cane Creek Levers.
Sweet original white Panasonic saddle.
SR Sakae Crankset and Drop Bars.
Shimano Light Action Shifters and Derailleurs.
Fender eyelets front and back.

All new cables and housing.

Frame has horizontal drops making it perfect for a single speed conversion. I had the shop put on long-reach brakes so you can put newer 700c wheels on it and the brakes will work.

I ran 700x32 tires with full fenders for a few months and there was plenty of room, so this bike would make a great commuter.

Overall a really solid bike. May need some slight adjustments to the shifting system, but a simple tune-up should make this bike run solid for a long time to come.

price is firm.

Appears to be missing the Brooks saddle. Looks like it is in nice shape. Not a $700 bike. That is Paramount, etc territory. It is more like a $200 bike.

Bridgestone RB2 Road Bike - $150 (palo alto)

Date: 2010-08-28, 3:11PM PDT
Reply to: sale-vsftq-1924625033@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Good looking road bike in good shape. A fast, comfortable ride (it has a cro-moly frame - one bike mechanic who tuned it up called it a "bomber"). This size frame probably best fits riders from about 5'7" to about 6'. Shimano components (see https://www.sheldonbrown.com/bridgest.../64%20copy.htm for specs) and Ritchey wheels. I just put on new brake pads and tires. You can have LOOK pedals or regular platform pedals on it. It's a great bike for around campus or commuting (that's what I used it for for a number of years) or nice long road rides on weekends. It's now just taking up space in the garage, because I got a recumbent. Built in Japan. Likely a 1993 model.
$150 (or best offer if it's to a good home)

Oh, this was on local CL a day or so ago. Probably aluminum, not steel (and besides which I'm already committed to a bike elsewhere) https://springfield.craigslist.org/bik/1924656037.html

Older Cannondale road bike for sale, 15 speed. I don't know the size but it is 32 " to the top of the top bar. It is a least 20 years old. It has Modola Flash brakes, the crank and gears are Sugino AT, the front derailler is Suntoup Cylclone mII, teh rear derailler is SachsHuret. It does have a few scratches, it is an older bike. $150.00 OBO.

RE: the Trek 720 above. The asking price is $1950. Even if one of us was really "looking for one of these?!?" that would be a bit much, wouldn't it? And near-NOS bikes are not that rare either as wrk101 recently noted; lots of people buy nice bikes with the best of intentions, ride them once or twice and hang them in their garages. Maybe that one belongs in the 'Wacky World' thread.

Alan, I agree that the 720 is priced too high and it will likely sit there for a long time.

Here is a one owner, Campy equipped, 1973 Ganna for $125.

https://kalamazoo.craigslist.org/bik/1925629802.html

I purchased this 10 speed in 1973 from Alfred E Bike in Kalamazoo -

It has chromed lugs and fork caps, Campy down tube shifters and derailleurs, with Campagnolo Valentino on rear and an unusual cam and plunger design at the front. It has sewup rims; old-school pedals; Universal brake calipers; and Balilla brake levers.

Ron Cooper Women racing bicycle ...the Best!! - $750 (westminster)
https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/bik/1926163831.html

This bicycle is almost new,
It was stored for 10 years in a garage... no rust or anything.
it was used less than 10 times... Perfect for a serious bicyclist woman ( 5feet to 5'6) who wants performances!

It was customized with all the best racing components you could buy, very light!!
if it was build today , it would cost well over $4000.

The quality of the groupset determines how refined the bike feels, how much maintenance it requires, and contributes to the performance of the bike
brakes are Galli, saddle and seat post Fluolite, derailleur Galli, stem shimano, handle bar Cinelli,

The wheels greatly affect the performance of a racing bike
wheels Ambrosio 19 inch extra elite

The most important characteristics about a racing bicycle are its weight and stiffness
It s one of the best frames available!! Ron Cooper

Davidson Impulse Custom - 56cm - $400

[Errors when replying to ads?]

This is a custom Bill Davidson complete bike. My wife is the 2nd owner of this beautiful classic steel bike. It's been collecting dust in our garage for the past few years so I thought i'd list it here to find a good home for it. It's never been a rain bike and has only seen clear riding. The bike itself is in good condition. There are a few nicks/dings in the paint but overall it's in great shape.

Some specifics:

Frame measures 56cm from BB to top of top tube
Campognolo Athena group
Newer Veloche brakes/shifters
Mavic MA40 clincher wheels
Here's a link to the Davidson website for more information. https://davidsonbicycles.com/

Let me know if you have any questions. This is a solid trainer, commuter, rain or everyday bike. Thanks for looking.

F. Moser Leader AX 56cm Road bike with Campagnolo Chorus 9 - $950 (Wynnewood)

Date: 2010-08-29, 9:07PM EDT
Reply to: sale-vrnun-1926317191@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This is a 1998 56cm Moser Leader AX with Campy Chorus. The frame is the Cantina Tollo team frame (yellow and dark blue) and is made from Deda Zero (18MCDV6). It is fillet brazed with silver solder. The bike is in great shape and has never been crashed. The frame was treated periodically with JP Weigal frame saver when in use. There are a few scratches but it looks very good. I am a professional mechanic and used this as my primary bike for a few years, gave it a good overhaul and haven't used it for the last 8 or 9 years. The bike has the original front wheel (Mavic Open Pro 32h with Chorus hub and DT 2.0/1.8/2.0 spokes) but the rear wheel is a Campy Zonda circa 2004. 3T bar/ stem (quill). The rear tire was used on the trainer a few times and could stand to be replaced but aside from that the bike doesn't need anything. I can throw in a set of new Challenge criterium open tubulars if you pay the full $950 or $900 + a nice bottle of Barbaresco. Email me for pictures. Please don't send me low ball offers.

Rare 1990 Mavic group, top of the line. Beautiful shape. Not perfect, but very nice B+ condition for that sweet vintage ride. Call Matt at 510-847-6451

Parts include:
Mavic starfish crank, 170mm arms, 53/39 rings, replacement dustcaps, a few light scratches on the mirror-like face and a bit of shoe rub on the arms.
Mavic rear derailleur, great shape
Mavic front derailleur, braze-on, great shape
Mavic one-inch threaded headset, a few nicks but otherwise a work of art
Mavic dual pivot black brake calipers, the rear shows some wear in the anodization
Mavic black seatpost, 27.2, another gorgeous work of art
Mavic wheelset. silver Mavic hubs laced to Mavic SUP rims, gray anodized, showing a bit of brake wear. Hubs are sealed bearings and stunning. 8-speed Maillard freewheel included.
Mavic8-speed indexed downtube shifters, great shape
Turbo Matic saddle, this was the Turbo made for the Mavic group with matching colors. Leather is discolored, but the seat is very comfortable.
Campagnolo Superleggera quill pedals
Shimano 600 bottom bracket, Italian threaded
Only piece missing are the brake levers, but I have parts that will work if you're looking to build up a frame, Dura Ace levers, Nitto stems, Modolo bars, etc.

Not especially classic, but it's a De Rosa, and it seems like a heck of deal (assuming no major problems with the frame).
